I would like to hear some tales from around the country of how our finest in uniform justify winching being illegal, other than trespassing.
I know there are lots of great stories out there of our boys in blue protecting and serving.

The best I have personally heard was disturbing the peace. (in a ditch?)

ALMOST every cop I've encountered while winching has been really bummed that he was on duty, because he wanted to try it.

I was winching in this river and there was like 50+ people watching and the cops said that we were
gonna hurt someone I'm the crowd by the rope flying off or something. Ha then he said having rope in that river was illegal

Usually it's something like "What in the hell do you guys think you are doing?" or "Are you stupid or something?"... "Absolutely not."

My favorite retort so far was Tyler telling the cop we were in a youth group robotics team.

they said we couldnt fly our pirate flag (8'x10') and they saw our 16 ft box in the water and the winch and one dude was like aw hell i want to do that...and the other one was a fag and got sand in his vag

the story with that is the cop like at first was kicking us out, and then he just got utterly disgusted with the idea that we were even going in that water, like he forgot it was even illegal and was just entirely grossed out. so funny.

che blanc, every cop i encounter on the island asks to search the vehicle for drug paraphenalia because stu drove 50 feet without his lights on.

Last weekend me and tyler got caught winching by a few rangers in a gator cart. They said that they had reports of us using a generator to shock fish and wanted to see what the scoop was. We unveiled the winch and what it was for and they went nuts about it. They had me put on a little demo for them and everything. The only catch is they didnt catch on to the fact that we were jumping down the dam directly in line with the winch. Even though we had a camera pointing at it and a rope tied up to climb up the dam. I simply just rode in the flats when i was showing them what it was all about.

Most cops dont care too much about winching, there simply amazed as to what were doing. My neighbors a cop and hes gone out winching with us. Were gonna have him dress up in full gear some time so he can wave other cops reporting to the scene away and tell them he has everything under control. Very Happy

one night...really really late into the morning night, it was frye and reed watson (i tagged along cuz why would i want to miss it?),anyways reed scoped out this spot from google earth and it was on a golf course they were hitting these pool drops i guess you would call it the first one was like 60 ft then three foot drop to another 40ft pool then it was an eight foot drop to another pool anyways so we all went there and reeds frined was filming. they each had about a couple pulls when a cop came and pulled the friend who was filming over and started talking to him and then he saw reed and pulled him aside and they started talking and explaining what was goign on. me and frye were in the shadows and fryes like,"lizzie just stay here until they see us" then he figured the cop was cool and went over and everyone started talking and stuff, well the cop told us that they were short handed that night and as soon as he said that literally twelve cops came out and pulled up all along and up the curbs and they all started to shine their lights on us haha we packed up the winch got into the car with the wet boys and went away. they were pretty excited about it all and told us that it was cool but they didnt want one of them to get hurt and sue the golf course or something like that. that was one of my first encounters that i got with the police. (((( to frye and reed....freaking brian and his mouth...we got lucky Rolling Eyes

I actually saw a no winching sign for the first time out at cape canaveral national sea shore a couple weeks.

i have never been busted for winching but we always get busted for just riding on the lake with out a spoter or riding with no life jacket or riding after dark i hate it Sad
