|
|
I just started Wakeskating late in July. I have maybe three dozen pulls under my belt. I have never skateboarded, but have wakeboarded for a few years. I was just curious how long it took you guys to progress to doing medicore tricks. I can edge quite well, frontside wakeslides are pretty simple for me now. I've been working on ollies and backside slides for the last two trips to the lake. How long did you skate before landing your first flip trick? |

Brandon_Scott, I definitely wouldn't start worrying about flip tricks just yet. There are kids on here that have been riding for over 4 years who can't hit flip tricks yet. People progress at different rates, so just get out there and have fun with it. Get comfortable on the lip and find your pop. Im guessing you ride behind a boat? Work on w2w, too. Butter slides and riding wrapped help alot with 180's and riding switch. Start with shuv's and work your way up. |

Yeah yeah. Thanks! I ride behind a big 25' Maxum cabin cruiser. The wake is a bit large for begining riders, but I'm handling it. As soon as I can get this stupid board to leave the water i'm all about that w2w jump! I can also ride switch, but not really comfortable with it. I guess I know what I'm working on today! By the way Scapes suck! I had one for about 2 weeks before I got this LF control. A world of difference. |

Yeah dude Scapes are horrible compared to the innovations of today. The control is a perfect board to learn on. Im obsessed with Impulse's which are basically the same board, just gripped. If you aren't feelin the foamtop.. grip that badboy! Way easier to move the feetsie's around. |

Calskater23, if factions are a non-coated flat piece of wood with foam on them, yes they are exactly like scapes _________________ fins-personal preference
bi-level or concave-personal preference
one trick may be super hard for one person and simple for another
grip or foam- PERSONAL PREFERANCE (thanks gnarly dancer)

Some of my buddies like the Scape better because is a 44" and the fins are a little longer and it tends to track better. But as soon as you start to edge hard, wakeslide, or ollie. There is no comparison.

No, it an 06. I've heard the 07s are better. Do the problems with the 06 Control seem to be durability? I thought I remember reading people saying they crack and break on rails. I only paid $100 for it brand new on eBay. I'll finish the season with this board and think about a new one next year. I also gotta get some shoes that don't take 2 days to dry. |
