I went to ASU with this guy. Sad news for those that know him. This guy is the reason we get to ride everyday, or every weekend.
A millionaire that gave up everything, to become a hero.
cant have enough respect for a guy like Pat.[/url]

Heard about it this morning, that guy is the real deal...a true American. He gave up an NFL contract and followed his brothers as an Airborne Ranger
Rest In Peace.

Maybe this will help athletes who complain about their salary put things in perspective. It is really too bad that it took him dying to get the recognition he deserved. He did what he believed in a payed the ultimate price for it...i have a ton of respect for him.

I have so much respect for that guy. I do not want to ruin anything and he did and I would have not done what he did. He has gone into a war that is just like Vietnam. My dad is a Vietnam vet and fought in the same terriotary where we were soldiers was filmed. His friend died w/ a son he never got to see. People die in war and it really sux that they pay the ultimate... Props to him bro

xboard32x, I'm sorry but get out of America then. If you don't believe in your government then get the F*ck out. I will never get to meet my grandpa cause he died in the war and I have two of my cousins over in Iraq right now puttin there life on the line for this government. Now I don't believe in everything th government does and what its reasons are behind it, but I still support them because its my government and I love the country that I am in. So if you don't want to believe in the government that you live under then go b*tch about it somehere else.

This is such a passionate subject to so many people. My only advice is to do your homework, research and know the facts before you make accusations and point fingers. You can't just discuss this subject from watching the nightly news and listening in on the conversations at the barber shop.
I would love to see you guys discuss this because it is affecting so many lives right now, but please grab hold of your emotions before posting...take a deep breathe. Otherwise, this discussion will be nothing but swear words and name calling.

minus_gravity, if you have been following this war, it does not take a rocket scientist to see that there really is no cause. We are fighting a religious battle with religious extremists, it cannot be won. They will give up everyone of their men to fight in what they believe in and protect their country. The sheer fact that we are not muslims makes them want to kill us. It is a lose lose situation. Comparing it to Vietnam, the north vietnamese were fighting to protect their pride, this is very hard to overcome. A similar example is Russia during WW2 when they burned their own villages to stop german invasions. Plain and simple, this war is being fought for the wrong reasons, it is simply a cause to get re-elected, which hopefully for our sakes and our childrens sakes and our childrens childrens sakes does not happen. Bush is a man simply lacking humility and honor and is willing to send our fellow citizens, brothers and sisters, into a country and potentially be killed for no reason what so ever. Terrorism will not be stopped by war, and Osama Bin Laden will not be found in Iraq. If Bush wants to get re elected, then he should go fight, not ME!

Another thing that needs to be brought up is the fact that National Guardsmen are being sent and being killed in battle. The purpose of the national guard is to protect our borders, and these men and women have signed up to do so. They did not sign up to fight extremist religous insurgents in Iraq. Hell, the only reason Bush signed up to be a national guard was to get out of Vietnam, but now he seems to be making his own rules

...andoutcomethewolves, i dont see you out there fighting, just as much of a protest as my comments. By not participating in a cause that you believe in, how are you backing the cause? And what is the cause to you?

I know the stupid reasons why we are over there fighting for no reason. If you look back at it our government does most of the things for stupid reasons, but that doesn't mean that we can just turn our backs on this country. Our government is going to put our brothers sisters cousins fathers mothers and friends into situtations that could take there lives, and by people saying that its for a stupid reason I feel you are attacking the people that are giving their lives for what they wanted to join and what they believed in rather than attacking the government. They joined for a reason and they atleast deserve the resepect of you to keep your mouth shut and not bad mouth a cause that they are dying for.

Do you enjoy the fact that you can sleep at night without worry that a car bomb will explode next to your head? The government and the soldiers that are fighting are doing just that protecting your way of life. Hopefully you don't have to bury parts of cousin Billy because some terrorist infiltrated the United States wearing a dynamite sweater and decided to blow of some steam at the local shell station. Quit believing everything the liberal press tells you and make up your own mind. This has nothing to do with Kerry VS Bush this has to do with Civilization VS Chaos.

jd, these are not the only terrorists out there and this will in no way stop terrorist activities. now lets look at what the war is doing to the economy, this war is placing us in an unescapable deficit. Bush has already increased the age of social security and probably will have to eliminate it all together. social security is money that you give the government for financial protection in the future. people rely on recieving their social security for retirement and now it possibly won't be there. when bush pulls the troops out of iraq, a guaranteed civil war will break free between the shiites and the suny's and over a million people will die because of this war. i support the soldiers in iraq but i do not support bush for sending them to war. in 5 to 10 years, you and the rest of the bush supporters will realize the true reason he went to war. it was not to stop terrorism but just to get re-elected. My argument is not kerry vs. bush, i am personally not a fan of kerry, but i can tell you one thing, his name will be on my ballot come voting day. if this man serves another 4 years in office, we will become a second tier country in no time...thanks dubya

kyle, can you really believe that the war in Iraq is simply a re-election ploy? It's much more likely to cause Bush to lose the election than to get him re-elected. The justification for war could never be that simple, and please remember that congress approved the action.
And the current deficit isn't a result of the war. It's a result of the economy and the tax cuts - which were implemented to stimulate the economy.
