How do you get sponsored?

Sponsorship for me was nice (for wakeboarding) but I find after having lost mine, I enjoy riding a lot more and I'm not always watching my back. When you are sponsored, you are constantly representing the company, which means no f-ups. Smiling face and good representation always, and god forbid you use another company's product. Yes, I was thankful for the support, but in the end it was a pretty big hassle.

more important question....

When the hell did engergy drinks sneak into sports and become so key to a riders list of sponsors?

I find it funny that at the end of a comp when I rider seemingly no longer has the need for an energy drink -- they just must have that drink in their hand right then and there. Does making it onto the podium make one that thursty....?

Personally, when/if I get on the podium, I am thinking, the hell with an engergy drink, where's my beer?

I want to see the next up-and-comer wakeskate phenom to list the most random list of sponsors at a comp, i.e., mom & dad, water and moisture, Oxygen & Carbon, God and his crew, dirty money that Dad steals from work to support me, etc.... That would be tight.

Either that, or kind of how like Dave Mira rides for Oxy Zit control, I would love to see more riders sell out and get the most unrelated sponsors ever.

HAHAHAHAH.....sponsorship is a gnarly thing. Your sponsors should be like your family, not your boss..... That's just my opinion.

I'd like to get sponsored by:

1. A record company. Preferably Kill rock stars, sub pop, rough trade, matador, saddle creek or similar.

2. A juice maker. Tropicana rr Minute maid would be great!

3. A wine maker. I'd prefer an Italian one, but hey, anything goes!

4. A cognac brand. Rémy Martin would be alright, I guess. Whiskey could also do. Bowmore or Jameson for example.

5. This is open for suggestions. Car manufacturer, department store, fashion designer, shampoo maker, Kleenex, whatever. Just pm me. I'm too lazy to put up a sponsor-me vid, but I guarantee you, I'm really good!

How bout being sponsored by Costco, I mean people are already sponsored by Target so why not one up it to Costco and get anything and everything you want IN BULK!

I know of plenty of riders who go hang out with their friend Red Bull or Monster right before a morning shoot. Thank God for that stuff, because the wake industry as a WHOLE just isn't motivated to do ish most of the time.
