|
|
I just bought a liquid force WUD 39 foam flat deck from www.wakeside.com. Just a few minutes ago i was just playing around on it on the carpet without its fins on or anything trying a few shuvits. I wasn't ollieing real hard or anything, but one time when I kicked down a bit to ollie I heard a small crack in the board. I went over to look at it under the light and couldn't find anything. So i put it back on the floor and just put some weight on the end of the skate where i heard that crack and it made another louder crack. After a few minutes looking it over i found a small hairline crack between the first layer and the top layers of the skate. I only weigh about 135 pounds, so i dont it should be able to support that on some flat carpet right? Here are some pics of the crack. Can i fix this or do i need to send it back or what?
The pictures aren't great, but there the best i could get from my Nikon Coolpix2100.
On the second two picture i opened up the crack a bit more with my finger nails so you could see it better.

It's delaming, and it shouldn't be doing that from carpet skating. You should call them and explain your situation.

I don't know if I would tell them you were carpet skating, just say it was from normal skating. There are a few of us that have had problems with our liqiud force skates too(delaming and snaping). Get it warantied as soon as posible, I think the waranty on them is only a month and if you hit a rail forget it.

The guys at Wakeside do read this message board, so I am sure they are already aware of the situation. If you can't get it replaced, it can be fixed with some epoxy and clamps. I've fixed several boards already that have done this. In your case it sucks a lot more because it is a brand new board and you were only playing around on the carpet with it. In my case, boards have cracked from hitting rails, so I expected it.

I've done the same thing with my board a few times, and no cracking or delaminating so I think yours was just a bad board

I'm not sure but aren't physical constraints much more important on a carpet than on the water (except rails)?

I think he means the carpet is hard and the skate cannot sink into it like it can in water?

not likely, somebody already mentioned it but the force can be very similar to hitting a kicker or rail.

Well, I called them today and told them how it cracked and all. He said that it was iffy if it would be covered under warranty because the damage was not done on the water. Even if i could get it warrantied it would take about a month or more to send it to them get it warrantied and get it back. I am just sending it to them to see if they can fix it in their shop. Either way it's gonna be a while till i get my skate back fixed, or warrantied or not
