Yeah i was just wondering what some advantages/disadvantages are to a bi-level skate. I know they are heavier and im interested because they look like they would ride more like a skateboard.

adv. better pop

disadv. break easier

i have the cassette hampson from 05. i love that board. such a different feel. i actually like the heavy feel of the board cuz it feels like i ahve more control over it whhen in the air. my board has kept up in good condition for about a year but now it is starting to delaminate on one end. i hear that burying the nose in the water can break off the kicktail but it hasnt happened to me yet.

Yes burying the kick tail will make the bi-level's easy to break, I watched it happen to a friends board two weeks ago.

I like Gator Board's site.

They show three views of there skates and not two (top and bottom).

It lets me see the rocker and concave much better then many other wakeskate producers sites for sure. They need to get some tips from those guys over there at GB's site.

For me, the most recognizable advantages of the cassette bi-level (since that's the only one I've ridden) would be the type of pop you get and the features you can get from the top deck. That board is so responsive. For me, it feels more like a skateboard than any other wakeskate because it sticks to your feet. With the other board I've ridden, it's like there's a slight delay when it comes to response with pop and ollies.

Of course, the shape of that top deck feels very nice as well...just the concave and the longer kicktails. "Ohhh, me likey" (sex and the city)

with the true 06 bi-levels, the aspect of fragility comes into play if water is forced in between the decks (like if you submarine it or something). A friend of mine split a few boards that way, but he was actually able to ride them for a bit, even after they were cracked. After that, they had this insane coating on them...there's this stuff at my shop called "slip tape" (I think) and it's this super thin, pressure sensitive plastic material. Anyway, that stuff feels like an 06 cassette. This same "friend" rode the same bottom deck for the entire summer (every day, pretty much--none of this weekend warrior shizzle) and to my recollection, there isn't any sign of delamination.

I broke the tip of my tip deck clear off a couple weeks ago from the force of the water. That skate was the best ever and I get sad thinking about it.
