so i got a 4 trac from jer_d a few days ago and it needs to be repainted but im trying to decided whether or not to try and paint the graphic back on like deepcove did a few months back or just repaint it. or repaint it and leave the cassette logo down at the tail untouched cuz that area is still salvageable. your thoughts please...

Get as close to the original as possible. Make it identical.

skate it man, cause it's got to be old as it is, so ride it and move on. you can convert other boards to a 4-trac config. just use the fins it came with and convert an oak or something comparable. Very Happy

its not so much the fin config. but just trying to make it look as close to the original as i can. i guess what im sayin is that i would rather not ride it and it be perfect but riding it would be a big big plus Crazy Eyes

I would offer to do the graphic for you but I have no idea how I managed to do it so close the first time and could probably never repeat it....I can tell you I tried to paint it unsuccessfully and ended up using a sharpie.

wakeshredder, dude back in july boardstop.com had like a blow out of them and i bought three bi levels, two 41's and one 40, i have been riding the 41 for a few months and its been holding up fine, but i also sealed it twice with marine grade varnish and ever now and again i go over the holes with the varnish. the top deck on the 06 is holding up great, but if you have an 05 i dunno if i would risk it, maybe buy a spare top deck from devotid they sell um cheap

deepcove, dude yours is incrediable Crazy Eyes i still cant believe you did that by hand

well, I bought mine last year before they first kind of went out of biz. I talked to Thomas Horrell over the phone about it, and he said to do the same thing with the sealing. to tell you the truth, though, the one I have is an OG aaron reed, and I would bet it'll be worth something some day, especially in it's condition. I think I'll just hang it like an OG tony hawk or something. You can see pic's of my actual board as the backround on my MySpace at www.myspace.com/skatethewake I just pre-ordered a 2007 Devotid Union. It looks real nice better than last years model. Hear is a photo for comparison that Kevin sent me...

i think you should redo the whole thing yourself, maybe sand it down and reseal it first then paint it yourself like deepcoves. Then that way you have something you can be proud of.

I think I'd just keep the cassette logo, and then maybe I'd use that vibrant green paint and refurbish the rest of it, minus the actual logo. Unless I was absolutely certain I could make it look sick, i wouldn't even bother. I'm a dork and I wouldn't want a piece of crap underneath my feet.

Wouldn't it be illegal to take their old graphic and re-screen it on a board? I guess I don't know if it's trademarked or anything...but that's actually one thing I don't support. Paying someone else to apply a cassette graphic to a board...

but either way, good luck with the deck. Since it's in the condition it's in, I'd ride it. I had the chance to ride one this past summer and I'd love to have a 4-track in my quiver because it's still a sick shape.
