What are the disadvantages of HL?, I definitly want grip top, but as far as concaves and other options I am a bit clueless. I want something for surface tricks and flips, I will only go w2w if I learn to go big. So any input would be helpful, once again Im kinda big 6'2 180 shoe size 12. So throw me some ideas and flame away.

| East Coaster, haven't ridden one, but from what I have heard... it is definitely not hyperlite's best product. Look into an Oak, Sattelyte, Liquid Force, or Gator Boards if you are looking for a wood concave. Composite concave look at Integrity, Omen, Gator, Distortion, and the upper-end hype skates. |

East Coaster, I'm about the same size as you, a little bigger foot though. If it's within your price range definately check out the Oak wakeskate lineup. They make a solid wooden skate that rides perfectly for me.
A lot of this depends on personal preferences though. If you like wood or composite, how often do you think you'll be hitting rails, what type of ride you are looking for. All of that goes into making a decision that is right for you and your personal style.
If you have any questions feel free to post them or p.m. me but I'd suggest testing different boards if possible to see what you like. |

We dont have any rails to hit in the ville. I have ridden skateboards for a while so wood may be good, but do they always delaminate? Mostly be doing surface tricks, an minimal w2w, so what u guys think, I want something with a good feeling on the foot, but also lasts for at least one season. I live in Tn, an have never heard of anyone demoing boards, in fact I only know 2 places that carry em. But I wanna get one will its cold and hopefully get a lil discount.
Wood or Composite

my first board is an oak artifical heart. although im not nearly as big as you (125lb) i love the board. everything about it. i went and got some fiberglass resin and added a nice layer on the bottom for some protection if i ever hit rails and its good incase it wants to hit something hard or if i drop it. i love my oak |

| It's going to end up personal preference, from what I've heard phriction aren't a great choice but like someone said, whatever will get you on a wakeskate. Just don't go out and buy a piece of crap because after a few weeks your going to want to upgrade. Best thing to do find someone that lives near you and try their board if you can't finda place that demo's boards. You'll get a feel for what you like and maybe find a pull. I would suggest an integrity or oak but I'm also in the market as well. |

| Im about your size, im 6'0" and 160 lbs. My shoe is size 12 1/2. I have a 2005 byerly 107 and it works great. I use my old skate shoes when im wakeskating. i have a neighbor who came with me once and he's tiny, about 5'0" and i'd say around 95 or 100 lbs., and he got up on it first try. |
