I drew it by freehand, used a compass for guide curves. I printed out the Sfumato wallpaper from Cassettes website to copy.

CWB have a wakeboard series "pure" that come pretty much completely blank and you can download stencils from there site to "customize" your board, maybe Cassette could think about doing the same (or sell really big stickers for board bases). Just a thought...

Paul, actually its 108, 13 is my lucky # (and position in Rugby union - centre). Haven't had a chance to test it properly, did pool tests with fin shapes before I started building and once complete which were pretty promising, really bit into turns when compared to standard shape (no standard fins on either). Should get to test it this week

Tested the "side-finned" board last night for first time. Works awesome, bites real hard when on edge but slippery as anything when flattened off. Found that it worked best when you exaggerate your turns (dig harder on the edge than normal). I never ride with fins so found I could cut in at the wake much harder, more like when wakeboarding, and therefore get more air off the wake. My little brother had a crack and found he could cut harder than on his board which has 1.0” double up fins. When he was cutting hard away from the wake only the very back edge was in the water, the nose was a good foot and a half out of the water (no BS, at least 2 times higher than with his other board). More of a wake to wake board really, I prefer riding the concave deck (side-fin ones a flat deck) for skatestyle stuff.

I have an original version of the Cassette logo. If you want it for use as a stencil, e-mail me at john@wakeside.com and I'll hook you up. It's huge so you could make a stencil as big as you want...

To answer the original question (how to improve wakeskate board design), i think the materials used can be improved on.

Instead of using maple (i think that's what is usualy used) you could use bamboo ply, because bamboo is meant to be heaps lighter than maple and heaps stronger. Bamboo is meant to be the strongest natural fibre known to man or something...

I got the idea from this company making bamboo skateboards http://www.bambooskateboards.com/
