Hey all.
I have been saving up money so I can build myself a winch. Can anyone help me with the specs. I think I need a 6.5 hp horizontal shaft motor and I know I'll need a good 1000 feet of line. I have found tons of cheap motors on ebay, but I am very unsure about what kind of line to use. I'v seen some ropes that look good, but they's be so darn bulky I just don't know. Anyone with advice I will appreciate. I can even make you some free stickers. I work at a poster/sticker shop.
P.S. What kind of clutch should I use?

get either a torq a verter CVT or a 8 horse rated centrifigal clutch... either one you can get from ebay... for line make sure you get rope that is non stretch and rated for at least a few hundred pounds (3/8 in would be a good bet)... try west marine... for you engine briggs and stratton are the way to go although people (including myself) have been known to use honda knock off engines which are alot cheaper...
if you have any other questions search thru winchskating.com first... the people there are dedicated on helping you out... _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

Can you weld? Your frame is the only thing you can't by in stores sooo make sure you get that part worked out a.s.a.p. Otherwise winchskating.com will become your best friend. I'm in the process of building a winch myself and i think this is the rope i'm going to go with:
