hey guy im getting a new skate and wondering wether to do composite concave or bi level.. i know most bi levels are wood and im wondering if they are gonna delaminate and break and if thre worth it. i do mostly flat tricks not much w2w stuff so im thinking the bi level might be better but im not really sure.

thanks alot
mike

alright i looked it helped a bit theres not really alot comparing it tho.. im also asuming the bi level decks are very heavy compared to the concave. and wats a good bi level board to get. i was looking at the cassette ones but i hear they break. if i go with a concaved composite im thinking integrity.

it looks like the bi level boards would be harder to spin and flip?

well as far as the feel you will have to figure out what you like by ridding all of the boards, but the bi-level does have such a cool desighn and makes so much sence. Now i have seen a few of them break and mostly because of windy days and choppy water. So the bi-level has advantages and disadvantages. A lot of the companys are going to be selling extra top decks in the future hopefully so when you break the top deck it will be just like breaking a skateboard, you still have the trucks, and bottom deck in this case but youll need to buy a new top deck for about 100 dollars.

heroldmike, Not necessarily(sp?). Yes, they are heavier, but the weight is made up for in pop and responsiveness. I have ridden both the Devotid and the Cassette bilevels. I liked the devotid a lot more, 5 stage on a bilevel is a really great feeling and the pop was freaking tremendous! I popped a flats shuv higher than i ever have, and fell on a 3 shuv because it actually popped too high. Next year i heard the devotid bilevels are gonna be one hell of a lot lighter than any of the bi's were this year, and possibly next year. Anyways if you are going for a bilevel, i would strongly recommend the Union.

As for wood concaves, i have ridden mostly Oaks and they have been great decks for sure, however i have been dying to try out Sattelytes and of course Devotid's. I like that devotid is really testing out all sorts of shapes with 5 stages, it seems like a 5 stage wood concave would be great, and devotid's are really awesome so far in my book Smile

As far as composites go, i would have to put 3 decks out there.
Integrity 41" (either model)
Omen Revolt
Gator Doyle

All three are great. They all have some pretty unique features that all worked out really well on the water.

Anyways i'm done trying to act like i know what i'm talking about Embarassed

Hope it helped anyways haha

Also check out the thread from a couple of days ago about a company called AKONITE. Their bilevel concave looks pretty deep and grippy, there are pics in the thread.

The Devotid Union in 07 is going to weigh around 11 lbs. Any other questions feel free to ask.

skatewake41, Tons of pop, spins really effortlessly. Tracks well, i rode one gripped, and i liked it a lot. The concave felt pretty comfortable to me as well.

Slapdown, does the 5 stage on the union feel any thing like the one on the omen, is it slow like it and does it pop the same. cause i did not like how flexy the omen felt, i like the feel of a stiff board, becides on bi-levels

skatewake41, It felt somewhat similar in terms of how it pops. No, the board was not slow like the Omen, but then again, i ride an omen so maybe it's just what i'm used to right now. Anyways yeah, you could tell the 5 stage was more dramatic, but it had super crazy pop, and wasn't slow on the water at all.

also the union will be the first bilevel with a dura surf base material so it will last longer, slide better, and ride faster in the water more than any other bilevel on the market
