pirate, style and progression go hand in hand. you cannot rest on your laurels and thing a wake to wake grab is the only thing progressing wakeskating. up the ante, but make it look good at the same time, and be creative. it's like technical skating evolving/progressing from teeny curbs and techy tricks to larger ledges and challenging, yet interesting terrain. or taking your lip tricks to an actual rail. i'm not saying everything has to be tech, but everything can't be a straight air either.

wait, carving is rad, but stock acid drops are not? you might be interested to know that an acid drop was a required start at the first hippodrome. it didn't matter if you made it or not, but you had to try it. I think that says something, especially coming from collin, silas, and jason, and the fact that you are a huge supporter of the hippodrome.

and once again, I respect bad luck because by all accounts, he's a ripper and with that backflip dock start, he's exploring what he wants to explore. But i'D rather see a skate influenced acid drop, vs some gymnastic backflip. sorry if I step on someone's toes here...but that's just how i feel. so anyway, once everyone who disapproves of that acid drop and they replicate grubb's situation and land it with the taste of sweet success on their lips, I'll back the eff down. and I'll even brush the dirt off your shoulders.

no offense pirate, but if you didn't care, you wouldn't have even started this thread.

also, this awards cerermony is hardly a secret, not to mention that it's the third year. maybe the rider needs to be pro active when it comes to getting recognition, considering wakeboarding magazine also has their hands full with...wait..oh, right, a magazine. In fact, I think it says a lot that they're open to submissions, vs locking in their very own nominees and that's that. anyway, a number of those nominees worked hard to get to where they're at. wait, bad luck said that. so I agree with you on that.

you guys are really gettin down on Grubby, i doubt he was like "oh i gotta do this acid drop so i can get in the Wake Awards" he probably just did it for fun during a photo shoot for something cool, and then WBM thought it was crazy so they put it in. Here's what you guys have to know, Kevco literally told me: "It's more about just showing people what's goin' down out there" and that's so true. There are tons of nominations in there that when it comes down to the voting are not gonna be like REAL thoughts that the trick might be trick of the year. but wbm is tryin to get the tricks out there.

PIRATE, go read the new Alliance Wakeskate, it totally talks about dedicating it to "the little guys."

Basically, there's a lot of people on here that are like "they wouldn't even CONSIDER using a trick by Drew Daniello, why wouldn't they use that?" Well plain and simple they didn't know about it. wbm is just trying to use tricks that they have, same thing as kyle's hippodrome kickflip, why would that be in there if Clint Thompkin's varial flip down metro west in In Its Travels be on there? Same thing, they just don't know about it. Which is in my opinion kind of lame because it's THEIR responsibility to find out about that kinda stuff. i can see not knowing about some trick done on a video online, but In Its Travels was a pretty big video. But in the end, it's WakeBOARDING magazine, not wakeskating. i'm friends with the guys and stuff, but wakeskating is just not their complete and total focus.

I went to the last two WBM Awards, and they were fantastic good drunken good times.

I am just stoked there are so many nominations this year..... It's going to be a wakeskater bonanza!!

electricsnow, yOU bring up a good point with the carving and acid drop thing.... And i have to agree. there is room for that. BUt should it be trick of the year ??? I dont think so. I also agree with David that i'm not getting down on Grub I dont think he was like "hey lets go be super radical bro and acid drop off of the tower woooo hoooo pass me a beer brother !!!!" I put the blame on the mags, Kinda like how i hate the war in Iraq and our president but i would never tell a soldier i didn't respect him.......

SO now it matters what peoples names are in this industry, it doesnt matter how hard some no name kid rips. Maybe you should step away from having your d up someones ass for so long.

This is best trick for all of wakeskating. Not best wakeskate trick of only the people we all know of the year and give the most back to wakeskating but not really. Get a clue dude. I bet you would be bent if you killed it as hard as them but since you dont you just beach about it about these guys you think are wakeskating. Let me tell you all something wakeskating exists because of people like me and you. The people who love to do it just because not because some company is giving out big fat check to go and ride everyday. We pay their bills. People who say that the reason why they are credited for best trick because the company they ride for gives back so much needs to be smacked in the back of the head. Your a fool for thinking that. These people that were nominated kill it so hard every day they ride but there are alot more people out there that deserve it too. Dont take away from the people who also deserve it. Its just not fair. I dont care if they are someone nobodys ever heard of before. Its just not fair
