Spanky Beaver's Wakeskate/board Jib Jam Photos

Here are a few shots I took at the Spanky Beaver Wakeskate/board Jib Jam that took place in Sacramento Ca. Sept. 10th 2006. The event was held at a public pool at a park. They had a 50+ ft aframe, 40 ft flat bar and a 4ft high kicker pulled by two black box winches.

PIRATE, I dont know if they counted it, but he landed a bs270shuv off, but as he came off the rail they killed the winch so it looked like he fell. He also did a front board to bs 180 (well, bs 90 to be exactl) out.

They said the flat bar was 40 ft long? seems shorter in some of the pics. It was low but they wanted all the skaters to be able to hit something there im sure.

how did they make sure the rails werent gonna wobble or anythnign? cuz you cant pound them into the bottom of the pool...i'm just curious

the rail wasnt really "made" for skaters as i understand it. hell, there wasnt even gonna be a skate division as it was. but we all showed up and demanded our own division! j/k

given the popularity among the skaters, im gonna try to see if we can get an incline built and thrown into the mix for the next event. the flat bar was pulled really close to the starting area because they didnt wanna have anyone hit the kicker and get too close to landing on the flat bar. again, this was a wakeboarding event, so they were planning on people hitting the kicker a bunch.

the rails were just sat on the ground in the pool. some lead weights were put on them to keep the rails from moving, but that's about it. the big A frame had to be pushed backwards a few feet after every few hours, but as far as i could tell the F-er wasnt budging when they hit it.

the rail contest went well, and the free drinks afterward were fantastic! thanks to the Pine Cove bar who sponsored the event.

p.s.- dude who was riding that 4trac, and why on EARTH were they wearing a wetsuit top??!! it was pretty damn hot there. or was it just me that forgot to wear boardshorts so i could hop in the pool and cool off every now and again?
