I have finally come to realize where progression lies in the sport of wakeskating. Flip tricks are becoming so common that they are done by people who have barely gotten the basics down, and I have to wonder where the line will be drawn. I don’t believe progression lies in groundbreaking tricks anymore. I feel that every single person can progress the sport no matter what their skill level is as long as they have the stoke and the will to think outside the wake. Winching is becoming more and more popular and the limits of where we can ride have extended greatly past anybody's expectations. Progression is no longer only in the riding but now it is in winch construction, rail designs, different tow vehicles, and certain riding spots that most would never even think about riding in. The sport will also progress with the number of people that pick up wakeskating every single day. Our wakeskating community is expanding so rapidly that soon wakeskate only contests will be everywhere in every single state just to keep up with the demand and popularity. Just remember, every single time you step on your wakeskate YOU are progressing the sport, every time you tell a friend about wakeskating, YOU are progressing the sport, and every time you land a new trick YOU are stepping up the riding in your area which in turn makes others try to step their riding up. This is progression.

tru tru.

and for those very reasons i love wakeskating more than anything. not just the richest kids with the best boats with biggest wakes can ride. every kid with a pontoon boat, fishing boat, even a car or fourwheeler can wakeskate. its like surfing, skating, wakeboarding, snowboarding (and probably more) all in one

BEST sport known to man

Mr. Top Hat, right on..... i think the topic is well put by thomas horrel in asteriks* when asked " do you think wakeskating will evolve into something bigger and he says THEY USED TO SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT WAKEBOARDING.... this is so true becuase there are so many kids out there that can straight kill it but dont have the money or know the people with the big ass 50,000 dollar boats all ballast out and still want to ride and IMO end up realizing how much more fun you can have, how much more technical the sport is , and IMO how much more of challenge it is becomming to get to the top !!!!

exactly. whatever happened to riding because its fun? i realize that some of you have this idea of where you wanna take things, but lets not forget about the reason why you all started riding.

Mr. Top Hat, amen brotha. i think that the fact that the sport is inexpensive and that you can session practically any body of water is the key to this sport becoming more than an "after wakeboarding" activity. JamesBoardr, the fact that it is all of those sports combined makes it one of the most amazing and fun extreme sports out there. i believe that its low costs(tow/equip/skate) and the invention of the winch (access to uncharted spots) will progress wakeskating into a completely independent watersport.

edit:i just read that last 2 posts, its all about the chillin Afro

it hink sure its all aobut riding for fun... but if we ride for fun and dont push ourselves to be the best we can be then when will it ever be fun... for me i wakeskate b/c i love it, its the only time when i am truely happy. but i alsop want to push myself... and i mean if i have 3 shuvs stomped the one day and i can only land 1 or 2 the next then sure i get pissed off... but i still ahve fun b/c i am doing what i love...

i read an article yesterday that this thread Made me remeber, it said..

" there are sports that have been around for Decades such as baseball and
soccer which require afew basic skills such as kicking and swinging Yet the Reason younger generations are getting more into sports such as wakeskating is becuase it doesnt require one basic skill , its about Creativity ,Originalty and how u exprese your self , no one rider rides the same becuase every rider is different , and thats why theres soo much more possibly's in wakeskating"

Mr. Top Hat awsome post man Smile

dirtyohioriver22, i actually didn't. in fact i barely watch wakeskate videos or read wake magazines and the only time i ever hear about whats up in the wake world is if i read about it on this site. i made the post after a day of ditchskating behind my truck in a church parking lot. if it makes you feel any better you can still accuse me of plagarism.
