| alright, i found one of hyperlite's very first wakeskates at this store near my house, it was just collecting dust while on display in the ceiling, so i bought for a keepsake and to admire when im old, but i want to know for sure what year it is from and all that good stuff......it is basically a wakeboard but entirely covered in foam and has FWT pads....if you wanna see some pictures i can put them up but if anyone has any info let me know

nope. It's from 1998. I have one of those too, but it was ridden (however, I only paid 20.00 for mine).

that yellow board is from 2001. They're similar in that they both look like the "base design" of the board is a wakeboard, but the grey board is completely flat on top with traction pads, and the yellow one has sone gnarly kicktails and a little bit of concave. Those kicktails are seriously like three inches thick, if not a little bit more.

I've got the old blue one that I believe is circa '99. It was a lot like the grey one you have but has bigger traction pads. I still use it to teach people to ride. I ditched the pads though.

I bought one of those blue ones when it was new it was pretty good but really just a wakeboard with foam on it. In 2001 I finnaly got on a cassette and it was all over then, I realised that wakeskates were more than just wakeboards with grip on it.
That sponge is the worst wakeskate ever made.

Is the sponge that LF piece of junk? I rode that one time and it bowed from the water pressure. It had "anti-rocker" when on it!
Hyperlite used that same board blank for several different boards for a while, wakeskates, women's boards, freeride models... All they had were different paint jobs.

I was riding an old wakeboard without binding or grip, just wearing sandals. My friend and I both learned backside shove-its with that set up.
Later I bought some FWT and put them on a double up. That was decent set up. I had my shop order a sponge and it was so soft you couldn't cut with it, like you said it would just bow under. I traded it in for that blue hyperlite.
