Hey,

I'm drilling some holes in my Old DC's and just wondering how big should the holes be?

Like when you look down into your shoe should you be able to clearly see a large hole, or should it be more like tiny pin hole amount of light?

So far I have drilled 3 along the bottom starting at the back heel, one in middle, and one near toe.

Then I have 2 in one side of the shoe, and 1 in the other side of the shoe near the middle.

Should I do anymore?

Thanks

Why ?

Honest question here.

I put some holes in some old Vans that are about 1/8 inch, I would say that there is no need for holes any larger that 1/4 inch.

from my experience, drilling holes in shoes doesn't help that much with drainage...one thing that does help is to cut open the tongue on your shoe and rip out the stuffing in there and then sew em back up...the tongue holds most of the water

cfxomega, is right...gettin all that foam out helps a ton...also if you can pull out any extra foam that you wont really need.

i bounce an old pair of DC's. they had holes already but they are starting to rip from them. they are old but holes if not properly boardered by metal may jepordize the strength of the shoe. Neutral

i tried to drill some holes in my old vans to improve drainage. They had a gum sole so when i made the hole and pulled the bit out it basically just closed back up. I never noticed a difference. Not worth it in my opinion.

to help the shoes drain and I don't think that question was very honest.

But I agree that drillin holes doesn't do much and its far better to pull out the foam in the tongue.

Yeah Im not excepting that much from the holes.

But I was bored today and figured would drill a couple.

I think the ones in the side will help a litte, but the bottom ones probably will be to small.

Hey Thanks man!

I'm actually going to Nanaimo next weekend, like the 26th for a few days.

I'm not to good though I only just started wakeskating have been wakeboarding for a few years.

But I'm going to the Shuswap for 5 days so gonna wakeskate all day straight for those days, so hopefully will get a little better.

IMO by far the best way to do it it get a piece of 3/8" air line or gas piping or thick walled tubing about 6-8" long and sharpen the end of the pipe on a grinder and make a punch. take your shoe put it on a 2x4 sole side down. Then position the punch were you need the holes and wack it with thhe hammer. It makes it look like it was supposed to be there and it wont rip out in three weeks cause you narled it through with a drill bit. Plus it works on the side too. in the leather/pleather but not the mesh(it will unravel).
