well first you have to understand about winches... that would be a loooonnnngggggg walk.. and what is that water even for? you woldn't wanna get mutated and all, plus theres nothing there to hit, its just flat, seam pointless when you can ride endless flat water behind a ski or boat.

..... unless you don't have a boat or a ski. put a barrel in, or just flatty tricks it would make for good scenery. Cool

well he doesn't have a winch either, it'd be easier to find a boat then a winch, plus like i said the water is questionable. whats it for? they have alot like that in san jose but it's all sewage. make sure you know what it is before trying anything

and once you understand about winches, you'll realize that...
-walking is perfectly fine, especially compared to having to swim the rope out.
-flat and long means you can put obstacles in the water like barrels and rails and boxes and on and on.

its hard to actually gauge the water quality just by looking at it. on several different occasions there have been tests done at restaurants that have shown there to be more e. coli in the ice cubes than in the toilet water.

scott a,

1. questionable water, he'll come home with wierd growths under his armpits.
2. he doesn't own a winch, and a boat will be easier to find.
3. why walk holding a rope you have to pull out for 3 minutes, when you can only ride it for about 20 seconds. walk to ride ratio is too pathetic.
4. it's just flat water, hit it endlessly behind a boat or a ski, and not come home as a mermaid. for what he is trying to achieve is fore more logical behind a boat or ski. plus the wake is always there. and it's not a bust. plus it doesnt seem very accessableby truck, and winches are heavy, me and bret found that out the hard way.

gorath112, i was just helping him out, i mean if he wants to do it, go do it.. i just don't see the point, when boats are more logical. hell, winching behind a safer waterway is more logical, not a sewage pond you know?

1. questionable doesnt mean he'll come home with much of anything. its entirely possible, but not 100% certain.
2. where do you plan on launching a boat? after the drainage ditch and barb wired fence (which would be an issue also for the winch), how are you gonna launch the boat in the water with retaining walls that look like they're at a 45 degree angle?
3. you only use a winch when you cant use a boat.
4. your statement is the most illogical thing ive heard all day.
-if you ride youre gonna get wet whether you ride behind a winch, ski or boat. youre still wakeskating, right?
-if the cops come youre gonna busted regardless of what youre riding behind. you see that fence? and barbed wire? yep. it means trespassing will likely be your ticket. and then if youre lucky you'll get disturbing the peace and maybe destruction of property as well.
-and if the spot isnt very accessible for a truck to get in there and hold the winch in place then how the HELL do you plan on launching a boat? pure genius.

and yes, winches are heavy but its not the end of the world. thats why some brands have wheels on the bottom and also securing points that you can use to stake the winch down in the case that the spot isnt accessible to your truck.

Laughing You kids are funny

I don't plan on ever winching this spot. I probably couldn't get ahold of a winch. I was only saying "if only..." scott a, is right about putting as many obstacles in there as you would want... And the water... i don't know/care.

scott a, The drainage ditch doesn't go all the way around, it it pretty much a straight line, and the way in is through a gate which could get a truck through and it is on asphalt so it wouldn't be any trouble getting a winch in.

Point is, this winching spot would be really sick if:

1 There were some barrels, rails, etc. in there
2 The water was nice and fluffy
3 There were no chance of getting caught
and 4 If i had/could get a winch...

I had to be cool and number my statements like you guys... Embarassed Laughing

Oh and on the side nearest the point where i was taking pictures from, there are stairs to get out of that thing if you couldn't walk up the walls.
