Don't get me wrong, I agree with you guys BUT living a life today in the western world without supporting companies which use cheap asian labour is near impossable. It's so widespread. Where do you think the keyboard your typing on is made ? USA ? Germany ? probably not. I try to choose my battles - I don't support McJunk. If I turn my head back to wakeskating, I'll be supporting Integrity this year. But really that's not good either because I live in Sweden and then my money leaves my country and goes to a country which is by far the worst war monger in recent history and the only country who has used an atomic bomb on people (civilians), TWICE.

Am I a bad person because I want to support Integrity with the above in hindsight ? Perhaps... perhaps not, it's subjective.

What about most snowboards being made overseas (though I'm sure a wise man would debate the "austria (or insert foreign country here) vs. china" bit? Who all bought a snowboard that was made and designed in the US? Mervin mfg. (which is owned by quik) and never summer are some of the last of the "well known" companies that make their boards in the US.

Dwindle has that whole china wood thing going on...a lot of skate companies take a lot of pride in making their decks in the US.

And I"m not trying state that I am or am not for the overseas production in wakeboarding, I"m just asking a question.

A quick tip: When you complain about US-economy. Try to find someone who can run the country without spending all your dollars on waging war overseas. Peace, love and understanding have never felt so remote...

Is stepchild american or canadian? I don't even remember...all I know is I like their style.

I actually bought my first lib tech this year. Very Happy I own the dark series 149 and it's the best board I've ever ridden. I've never ridden a magne traction, but they look crazy. Surprisingly enough, our shop hasn't sold ours yet, which is heartbreaking.

Anyway, most people I know don't give a damn where their snowboard is made (don't take that the wrong way, either). Sorry, but it's true. But it does speak to certain customers when you show them a lib, gnu, or a Never Summer and you tell them about how creative those companies are and that those boards are still made in the US.

Question: Let's suppose we all were chinese. Should we support Hyperlite instead of Cassette/Integrity/etc. because of the fact that Hyperlite employs "our people"(ie the chinese) ?

AHHH the reason hyperlite is there is because the people in asia work for much less money. End of story.

electricsnow darks are amazing too i have one.....stepchild is badass........and you guys can buy what you want but I will never ride a board made in china....gnu made a deck called the GT and got nothing but crap for it....it was made in china and most of them got sent back from the shops. Handmade in america will always be better than pressed in china.

Tobias_Neumann, my point was this.
Wakeskating is something that I love. I believe that the best possible boards are being made here in the United States, and in Canada. The boards being made in China are not something that I want to ride. (Just ask any skateboard manufacture, no matter what materials they use, the boards made here are just better). I wasn't meaning to use wakeskating as a microcosm for global economics although that's how it came out. I see what the guys at Integrity/Oak/Omen/Sattelyte/Cassette are doing, and I want to support those guys b/c I like what direction they are taking the sport and they are making the most appealing boards to ride.

For the things that I am truly interested in and I want the best possible, I am willing to pay a little more money in it. If I want to buy a guitar, I'm going to buy a Gibson or an American Fender. If I want a super nice watch, I'm going to buy a Swiss watch. If I wanted a supercar I'd get a European car. A muscle car, I'd buy American, a tuner, I'd buy a Japanese. These people are the best at their respective fields, and I believe the best boards are being made here in the North America by the small independent companies.
Then again making money is not everyones goal. Some people just enjoy what they do and want to make a quality product. O by the way how do I get an Integ? Smile
Exactly...

You can order an Integrity at http://www.integrity-wake.com
06's will be dropping in the next few weeks. Check out the "Carpe Diem" thread to see what is being released (New Nick Taylor pro model and new Team deck). Also if you are more interested in the backstory of Integrity, check out any of the "Update" or "Integrity Update" threads by Schmaltz
