Evil coroporations with the sole purpose of making money and not pushing the sport. the obriens left hyperlite and are back in washington starting a new company, hyperlite is corrupt and own most of the industry, liquid force makes poor quality decks but they are supposed to be getting better and I hope they do.

I would say that they are the Burtons of Wakeskating/wakeboarding. A lot of people just don't like monopolies/mass producers because they feel they might not be as careful when they design their skates as compared to a smaller company such as cassette that would.

ECrowe34, it's just a general mind set here in the wakeskating community.
Other smaller companies are coming up with more revolutionary designs, only to be ripped off by some of the major players. For me personally, I would rather give my money to someone that is going to use it to make a better product, I would rather pay more money for a quality wakeskate made here in the US by people who care, than a cheap one made in a sweatshop in China by people who have never even heard of the sport. |

Well, I just called Hyperlite. They told me that their skates and wakeboards are made in factories that are spread throughout asia. So basically they are made in a sweatshop by people who don't know what a wakekate is even used for. Companies, such as Cassette, have a factory in the United States (Florida to be precise) and are made by Americans. So who do you want to give your money to, people working in a sweatshop in asia, or promote companies that produce products in america...with care... its your choice man.

FYI: I'm sure alot of the stuff you wear and buy is made in somewhere in asia. Sure, it might be designed by an american or european company but these large corporations that we fear so much make more money if they use cheap labour. This is not news by any stretch so I don't know why an american designed wakeskate built in China would be bad because of that fact ? Is the IPOD a good/bad product because it's made in China or because of the american designers, who tells the chinese how to make them ?
I don't like Walmart etc. but if you want to knock 'em, knock 'em for the right reasons. _________________ Jazz up your life !

It is mainly that the money is not going to Americans. Why do you think the economy is so bad? Because Americans are buying products that are not made in America. When you buy products that are made out of the country, you are putting American workers out of buisness.

There is no reason to ship american business production for anything overseas and if we just let it happen then its no ones fault but our own. If we all go out and by decks made overseas then they have won, if we buy oak, level 13, liberation, cassette, omen, integrity, ect. then we are supporting our own market. You have to be an idiot not to see this.

mikeskatesonwater, There is a huge reason that they are made overseas. It is a whole lot cheaper to pay the workers over there. And you are right that it is our own fault that those compaines are #1
