From my non-scientific observations, I have noticed many more injuries related to bindings than wakeskates.
It seems that people are not really getting hurt on a skate like a wakeboard. Anyone else notice this?
Now, trying to ollie a gap in a canal surrounded by shopping carts outside the taco bell does not count. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

JimTheArchangel,
But, you run the risk of the deck smashing you in the face too.
None of my friends skate. They will once in a while, but I am the only one that will only skate all the time.
Too bad I suck. I wish I could ride with better riders though.
My glory days are over. I just enjoy getting out and riding. I hope to land my first w2w this season. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

JimTheArchangel,
My face is so battered already, I am on a first name basis with my plastic surgeon.
Serious!
I have had a few accidents in my day. I think my facial stitch count has passed 85. women love scars.
Never broke a leg or arm, only collar bones. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

I personally haven't gotten seriously injured doing either, but in my opinion the falls I take on my wakeskate are usually less harsh than a wakeboard. Wakeskating it usually just slips out or you lose the board, where wakeboarding it's usually catching an edge....which is never cool. |

holmespika,
An egg beater on a wakeboard is not fun at all. Or on a snow board. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

ya bro i twisted my knee around on a wakeboard and split some cartlidege now i'm payin for it because im in week two of an 8 week recovery from surgury. I guess that is what i get for strappin huh? The only real injury i got on a skate was when i fell of the scafolding at the Blacktop Brodeo, man that was fun! So my vote goes to that wake boarding is more dangerous. _________________ RIDE SoFaR... |

ya strapping is way more dangerous, the worst injury I've had was when I was hitting my flatbar, the board came out from underme and my leg went over, I didnt get nutted but I pretty much ripped my knee open on the side and wrote off my board shorts and boxers. |

VinceWhiteman,
Boxers under board shorts? Kids today. I wear a tight fighting pair of shorts to prevent the tap a sack slap. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

I think wakeboarding takes a more physical beating on your body... back in the strappin days i would go ride and take 2 30 minute sets, and be dead for teh rest of the day, i would just go hope and pass out, wakeskating, i can take 4 hour sets, and just feel fatigued (spelling?)... but mainly my worst inuries have just been grip tape burns, and pullin a groin a groin gettin wished boned if one foot desides to stay on and the other bails... ex: murray, bylery, i know bret has done it on a w2w haha brutal video, and i think lemons has a vid on here doing the same thing... |

ohh and wakeboarding i caught an edge and knocked my self out for like 4 seconds, my buddy sliped of a gapped rail and couldnt bail and caut the beggin of the up ramp of the next rail with his thigh, couldnt walked for 2 weeks and had to have surgery.... i felt really bad, cause i didnt think he was hurt, but i sat there and laughed my ass off for like 20 minutes cause he wrecked himself bad and it was really funny, and we didnt realise how bad till we got him out the water.... so once i realised he was hurt, i just shut up and felt like a totally ass hole haha |

I have locked a knee up and broke / crushed my right ankle back when I wakeboarded.
Since wakeskating I have only spained ankles and pulled my groin a few times, and had some cuts and all the fun stuff related to grip tape. |

SamHill,
Is grip tape that much better than the bubble crap? My two skates have bubble and my next one will be grip. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com
