Anyone on here know how to do calculus, or have a enough understanding of first year calculus to help explain this to me?

The question is.....
differentiate ln(ln3x)=0

and if u can do that can u try this to

d/dt (lnt)^3

Thanks...

ok...

d/dx lnx = (1/x) x (dx/dx) which equals just 1/x

ln(ln3x) is a chain rule so....

d/dx ln(ln3x) = (1/(ln3x)) x (1/(3x)) x (3)

=================================

d/dt (lnt)^3

chain rule of x^3 so...

d/dt (lnt)^3 = 3(lnt)^2 x (1/t)

=================================

hope this helps lemme know if you have any questions or i need to write it out differently

myers, thanks man, for the second one i fizzle up im supposed to find the second derivative of that so is it just like..

d/dt (lnt)^3 = 3(lnt)^2 x (1/t)
= 6(lnt) x -t^-2 x (1/t)???????????

I dont think thats right but its the only thing i can think of

get a program called "MAPLE"

It's genious really, if I knew about it in high school i would have be very pleased. I think you can even download it via torrents from torrentspy.com

Great with graphing, derivatives, etc. For first year engineering where I'm at it is mandatory to have, because its so convenient for calculus. If you need any help with it, let me know. I HIGHLY recommend it t anyone taking calculus.

You shouldn't need one for differential calculus.

Catalyst, you got the right idea you just have to do the product rule becuase its a variable times a variable so...

d/dx (uv) = (deriv of u)(v) + (deriv of v)(u)

u= 3(lnt)^2
v= (1/t)

therefore:

d/dx [3(lnt)^2]x[1/t] = [(6lnt)(1/t)][1/t] + [(3(lnt)^2][-1/(t^2)]

________^u____^v_______^u'___^v__+____^v'______^u

dont pay attention to the __ thingys it just wouldnt let me space it out without them

Very Happy

I know, its not that bad. But being allowed to use a computer program would be nice.

yea man no problem, once you get all the derivatives memorized it gets alot easier, kinda reminds me of factoring from algebra 1. the main things you gotta know are the chain rule, product rule, and quotient rule and you can pretty much do any of them
