as of now, collin's actually riding for krown (I believe he sold his molds to them as well). At any rate, I think it's really respectable that a guy like collin (or thomas, or erich, or jason messer, etc.) is willing to step up and take creative control of something like this (or wakeboarding--you get the picture). When you think about their roles and positions, what they do is seriously nutty. It's like the ulitmate form of expression: riders, board designers, quasi-art directors (or full on art directors in some cases), videographers...I personally think it takes a lot of confidence to put oneself in that position, and then to be able to trust your decisions enough to go through with them (like a graphic concept, or what have you). Anyway, I really have a lot of respect for that...the creativity these guys have and the ways they use it is very admirable (in my mind). And I respect it because I have a hard time trusting myself in certain situations like that.
Anyway, It could be contstrued as being narcissistic (sp) if you name your company after yourself, but everybody has their own reasons for doing things. And I guess that, in the end, I really don't care about that. I'm more intersted in what they're producing and where they're going to take things, and what they're going to do to achieve what they set out to do.
geeze, is that grubb doing that stinky karate kicked out frontside grab? That's the one akward thing about wakeskating, those stinky ass stances...but I don't plan on going shorter than a 41, so I'm really part of the problem. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I can see where you're coming from pirate...it's a tricky subject. To me, it's cool that it actually means something to be pro and to be invited. Like, before the pro tour had this top 40 qualifying deal, anybody with enough money to foot the fee could compete in the "pro" division. I kind of didn't like that, like you could buy your way in...but I'm actually really sassy like that. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
