I got my new Bi Level yesterday!!! yay!!
----------------
(edit: I put a little vid together tonight, nothing crazy, couldn't ride for almost 2 months and I'm a little rusty But you can see how well the bi works on a couple big shuvs ^^
get the video here.
you need divx to play it.)
Here you can get the .wmv version
----------------
My first bi was a 41 reed and this 40 Thomas lools like a little devil
First, it seems like the decks are better made / finished. The edges are smooth whereas my Reed from the first batch had plys sticking out and giving and edge to catch on, so that helped with the delam.
But there is still one BIG problem... It is a motherfycking PAIN in the ass to screw the top deck on the plates... Seems like half of the holes are 1mm off... Or you need to kind of step on the lower deck to *flatten* it so that the holes are further apart
This creates a lot of added *tension* in the deck, and I'm not sure it's a good thing hehe Maybe that's one of the reasons bis snap so easily... well, we'll see on this one hehe
I did a pretty original grip job on it... ^^ Didn't have my cam with me for a pic, so I used my video cam to take a picture... shiznackle quality lol
on that last pic you can see the part I've cut out... I wonder where I could put it _________________

Thats a sweet grip tape job...I dont have the patience to cut something out like that. I would have thrown the entire thing across the room after 5 minutes. _________________ Vive La Jeffe! - JLA is snowboarding!

Grouch, seriously it took me 4 hours lol, but that was while drinking with some friends at home, so it didn't feel like I was focused on the grip job lol
but yeah, you need patience for that shizzle ^^ _________________

| Hey Nekkie, do they have a pad between the two decks? I wonder if putting a pad similar to the kind they use between skateboard decks and trucks would work. If the material was flexible enough to deform in shear, then maybe some of the stress could be reduced. Without it you may have stress concentrations around the drilled holes that could lead to cracking. |

The Bug, yeah, that's what I'm thinking...
My old bi cracked right along the riser... on both ends lol The kicktails just cracked after the delam, and the risers sure played a part in it. But that's cause the board had lost it's integrity (no pun intented ) If it doesn't delam maybe it doesn't crack easily, we'll see how this one holds up lol. _________________

nekkie, where did you come up with that design?
and I agree, I couldn't do that either. Last year I cut a piece of grip to match the pieces you get with an integrity, and I also cut a very non-intricate design into the grip. I had one of those small razors--they're like an inch long. Anyway..blah, blah blah, my hands hurt and it totally sucked. I'd rather use paint pens at this point (and I do). _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Sweet grip job, Nekkie. That must be your wakeskating face. Treat her well, my replacement deck lasted only a handful of days. Don't nose dive it. At a hi speed water is forced between the two decks on the nose end and splits the decks apart causing them to crack. Good luck. _________________ dbanana wrote:
