Well it's been such a crappy spring here in W Canada, not much wakeskating weather that I thought I would take the boat on a different type of adventure. All this crappy weather means swell so me and a bud decided we would go on a wakeskate, surf trip to a remote area of BC's west coast in seach of waves.4 hrs of boating in calm sea's got us to our destination.Sick reef passes very tropical looking. As we were watching our first right hander fire from the boat a huge gray whale surfaced 50 ft from the boat ,sick!!!
Anchorage was fairly protected from the swell between the reefs and all looked good.Had some good surf the first couple days but needed a little more size to make the place go off.Swell pick's up but so does wind in the wrong direction, next thing we know when listening to the weather radio when these winds shift instead of going calm again there is another major storm coming with storm force 50 knts winds. The boat has already been looking a little sketchy at this anchorage with the last storm and 30 knt winds so we figure we better get out of there.
Craziest boat driving I've ever done 4ft wind chop and a 8ft ground swell. At least we were going with it but the route back was super tech with bombies and reef's everywhere.2 hrs of rad driving and we were out of the bad shizzle without even a splash in the boat.Gotta love those big old I/O's
Never did get to wakeskate
Amazing and wild place, wolves walking 10 ft from our tent door
I'll be back
Where exactley did you guys go? Looks like a good time, I love surfing but the waves arent all that great where we surf.
Nice pics by the way. Should have skated in that butter.

Shimkat A bombie's a reef, coral or rock, all by itself in the Sea.Causes a wave and the possibility of grounding in the middle of nowhere.
Beaver All I can say is it's on the northern part of Vancouver Island somewhere.A surfer never tell's
We were kicking ourselves for not skating the butter afterward but we were on a mission to get to the surf.
