i saw this picture of eva braun ''wakeskating '' in a history book today.i have been trying to post it for an hour but im too ignorant.she is standing on a board barefoot and the rope is attached to the board.it shows a nazi party official driving the boat and the wake is not too shabby.she has her arms outstretched.i will keep trying to get the picture on.i downloaded it to my computer but i keep getting it jacked up.help! you gotta see this picture. Shocked

That's officially called "aquaplaning." In my mind, that's not wakeskating, but I'm a jerk.

The closest thing I might call "wakeskating" is the old freeboarding/wakesurfing/wakeboarding thing. It's been called wakeboarding and freeboarding, but those were done on a surfboard and with a rope (held in your hand). That would be a pretty loose interpretation of wakeskating....it depends on who you talk to.

But that's still a cool picture!

i seem to remember a skerf that was like a ''pointed'' wakeboard but it was thick.and it had straps to slide your feet into.when i look at my wakeskates it seems so obvious.i cant believe in the early 80s i would put two planks on my feet and ski like i was so cool.i looked like a tool.
