I've been on this site for a long time and now... Ive seen the highs and lows of people and have went through alot of bulljive from people, some my falt and others not...

I've started to get discussed and worried in the past year about how the people of this sport have been pushing it... I feel a lot of people now are more concerned about being the best and who is the best than otu there than having fun and riding... I've seen alot of negitivity towards people for the smallest things... When did it get to the point were riders rip on other riders for things like not being able to land something, your style isn't cool, or learn to pop your tricks newb... Most of the negitivity are on these online forums...

I saw a post from Jboss, one of his best posts ive seen from him on how the sport is turning into skateboarding.. and I quote

Yeah I definitely agree with you parky, I think it is just something that is going to happen on this site as it gets bigger. From my experiences the people who are calling people out as posers a lot of times for the littlest things are usually the posers themselves and are just trying to sound cool.

Well, i know ive said a few negative things toward certain riders here and there, and im ashamed of myself. We should all be supportive of begginner, intermediate, advanced and pros. Parky is absolutly right, and so is jboss, We want to be supportive of the sport, and of poeple supporting it, even if they arent landing shuvs let alone kickflips. We should all stop bringing people down.. even if they dont look like they should be in a video, or on the cover of a wakeboard mag. Also. I think we should stop critizing certain board companys and the riders of those companies. We all know if some of us were offered certain money we would do anything. Look at it in that persepctive when u start talking trash about riders for "going to the dark side". thats my 2cents for now.

EvanPark, i feel the same way.

i hate it when people lie about thier abilities and being a$$holes to people that are learning. this sport and all sports are about having fun, feeling good about yourself, and push the boundaries on what you think you can do. people always turn everything into a compition and forget about that. i ride for myself and no one else, well...sometimes i try to impress girls but who doesnt.

being in VA im out of the wakeskating loop, i mean this is the only thing i got. I am the only kid around that wakeskates really, theres only a few others. and i dont think any of us are posers. poser.

all i wanna do is ride. doesnt matter who its with, although i do like riding with a couple people more than others. i dont really care about their skill, but i cant stand being around cocky riders, that and dangerous and stupid boat drivers.

I used to lurk the site and everyone seemed really cool so I posted once, and everyone was still really cool...

...then I got bashed on for every post after that. It was kinda disappointing. I would like to post more but its no fun if no one says anything back or just bashes you because your new to the forum. Seems like your 'in' or your 'out' around here, when really everyone should be 'in,' thats why this site is here right? Its not about how many tricks you can do, how high you can pop them, or what board you ride, we're all here because we love to wakeskate, thats it.

Parky as a senior member here I am astonished at how far you have come from your riding to your posts the one time post whore who didnt know what he was talking about to the ever advancing rider who looks to be puttin it down has become a well spoken and thoughtful member. Congrats kid you are what makes wakeskating fun.
Yeah you young guys don't even know wakeskating is following wakeboarding which followed snowboarding which followed skateboarding which followed surfing both its it growth and in its maturity. It's all a big circle and anything surfing went through every sport since has done the same it erie you can almost predict what and when things will change. Just ride for your soul and you will stay true.

Evan I must say i have so much respect for you for starting this post and pointing out what im sure alot of us are thinking, I may be a "noob" but i have been reading these forums for a fair while longer than i have been a member. Lately I have noticed the negetivity aswell and i thought that gorath had a post that summed alot of the ride roc stuff so well is the Byerly lock topic by pretty much pointing out why were all here to wakeskate.

If you are flat out ripping on a rider for no reason, then you need to stop. But if you are giving your opinion on another rider, then you have the right to do so. Since when does everyone have to be so nice, and can't say something critical about another person? As soon as you display one ounce of "political incorrectness", shizzle hits the fan. This happened to me the other day in class. I have a class where I help teach kids with disabilities. When we had a tricycle race, I let the kid win 2 times, then I beat him the next 2 times we raced. I was about to leave class and my teacher comes over to talk to me and tells me that I was wrong for beating the kid in the race, and that I shouldn't do that anymore. This is the shizzle that pisses me off. So many people now think that by being nice all the time, and by keeping away from controversy that you are going to help someone. Well you're not. You're just teaching someone to never work through a hard time or challenge, and that if they can't do it right away, then it's not for them. Sorry to go off on a tangent. I'll stop now. Very Happy

There's a lot of hate on this site. If you don't ride an Integrity you'd better not open your mouth here, nevermind if you do ride a Hyperlite or Liquid Force.

Oh ya, and if you enjoy wakeboarding, one of the sports wakeskating evolved out of, please don't utter a word because there's no use respecting your roots, "strapping" is so lame.

The epitome of it all was some saying, "But some styles are better than others"....thats idiotic. For one style is subjective, its in the eye of the beholder. That's like saying one type of music is better than another....well no its not, you just like one over the other. You are entitled to you opinion, but don't hate on other peoples. I personally enjoy the style of Leif, Grubb, Danny Hampson, Daniels, BT, Reed, Walham.....very different riders but they all bring something different to the table.

Wakeskating so much fun. You can't do it alone, its super social, its challenging, its rewarding, it lets you be creative, its just fun.

Read the Danny Hampson interview on wakeworld or was it alliance? Either way, he's got a great outlook on life and skating. Focus on the fun. I'm skating a ditch this weekend, hopefully with a flatbar built in it, should be fun. I'm stoked to be able to ride. Can't wait to throw on my Substance with my 02 belmonts on either, with all the people we'll be riding with the wake should be sick. I'd love to stick a roll to revert this weekend. Definitely will be doing a little wake surfing too now that the water isn't unbearable anymore.

Where I ride, you only get 3 good months a year, minus work days, bad weather days, thats only about 8 weekends. I treasure the opportunity to ride and can't waste time being lame and hating. If you ask me why I cruise this site, its because I love seeing people skating. I generally only read posts with pictures or videos attached because they pump me up to ride again. I also love the articles and threads about pros and people doing new stuff, thats super cool.

People just need to stop trying to be so cool. Everyone thinks they're so cool, punk, hardcore.....Myself? I like Lester Bangs, am not cool. I just love to ride.

Well, i read the topic, it was long, and i puked three times, but you are so right. Like theflyingduck said, when i very first joined every one said stuff like: "glad your stoked over your first ride" but like 5 posts later most everyone was bashing me. I don't think I bashed them back, at least i didn't try to and srry if i did. I was gonna leave this website because it got so anoying, but i had nothing better to do so i delt with it. Now i am on just to be a dumbass and try to make people laugh, bash me and not wakeskating cuz i seriosly couldn't care less. Smash
