Daniel Grant killing it on his new Obscura pro model

The Obscura Wakeskate Championships at the Texas Ski Ranch showcased the best wakeskaters in the world competing for Wakeskate tour points and a $10,000 purse. The unbelievable heat kept some spectators in their cars, but the riding and partying went strong throughout the two days of competition.

The illest, and Obscura Championships winner, Andrew Pastura

Late Thursday afternoon, the tournament started off with a friendly cable competition at TSR. The following day, the tournament began with six qualifying heats to advance into the quarter finals. Collin Gee, Daniel Robins, T.J. Giesey and Chris Pate were all qualifying stand outs landing impressive lines down the gap and on the ledges.

This was probably one good reason why Nick Robinson found himself on the podium

The following morning, the qualified met the pre qualified in the quarter finals. Six heats of riders competed for the top two spots in the heat to make it to the six man semi finals. As the sun started to set, the qualifying heats came to a close and the semis began. T.J. Giesey, Yan Lecomte, Danny Hampson, Nick Robinson, Andrew Pastura and Daniel Grant started the first super semi final of the day. T.J. Giesey started the heat with an impressive b/s noseslide down the hubba followed by a f/s 270 shuv boardslide on the ledge. Nick Robinson landed a few different moves but landed a solid 270 shuv front board on the hubba to back lip on the ledge. Andrew Pastura was constantly destroying the obstacles and landed a f/s 270 shuv back board on the hubba followed by a b/s 270 shuv front board. In the end, T.J., Nick and Andrew won their heat.

It's good to see this guy back! Matt Manzari, not missing a beat.

In the next super semi, Nick Taylor, Daniel Robins, Matt Manzari, Collin Gee, Brett Little, and Travis Belsito competed for the last three finals spots. Collin Gee was landing smooth f/s and b/s 360s down the gap and an unique front board b/s 270 off the flat ledge. Bret Little was the only rider to hit the hubbas switch and landed a switch f/s board fakie and a regular 270 shuv front board on the hubba. Nick Taylor landed a solid backside bigspin down the gap with a switch boardslide pretzel to be the last rider to qualify in the final.

This guy put in some heavy hours so there would be a pool gap to shred. Danny Hampson enjoying his work.

As the sun set and the lights turned out, new faces to the finals Collin Gee and T.J. Giesey joined Nick Robinson, Bret Little, Nick Taylor, and Andrew Pastura to battle it out for the podium. Nick Robinson Landed a f/s lipslide down the hubba to b/s lipslide on the ledge. As the time was coming to a close, Nick Taylor came through in the clutch and landed a b/s bigspin to switch boardslide pretzel out. But it was not enough to stop the king Andrew Pastura from taking the top spot with a solid 270 shuv front board to f/s 270 shuv back board on the ledge.

All in all, the 4th stop of the wakeskate tour was a great weekend for wakeskating.
