TransWorld Wakeboarding Announces "Devise and Conquer" Event Press Release
Date: 04-04-2011
Get ready for the first-ever TransWorld Devise and Conquer. For the first time, TransWorld WAKEBOARDING is organizing a photo and video competition between four wakeskate teams. Modeled after several other TransWorld events, including TransWorld’s Skate and Create (skateboarding), Imaginarium (surf), and the Team Shoot Out (snowboarding), Devise and Conquer will pit four wakeskate teams against each other in a battle to produce the best photos and video in a controlled setting.
For the first year, the teams will include Byerly Boards, CWB, Obscura and Remote. The winner of this inaugural event will secure a spot in 2012’s Devise and Conquer and score the cover of the July issue of TransWorld WAKEBOARDING.
Here’s where you come in. First, enter to win your very own pair of Teva’s new Gnarkosi wakeskate shoe, which we’ll be giving away leading up to the event. Next, tune into wakeboardingmag.com on May 11, 2001, to watch Devise and Conquer videos from each team and vote for your favorite. Your votes will help determine the winner of the first-ever TransWorld Devise and Conquer and help decide which team gets TransWorld WAKEBOARDING’s July 2011 cover.
How it works:
— Each wakeskate team will be made up of 3-4 riders.
— Each team is given three days at an undisclosed location. The first day is a strictly building and set-up day, while the second and third days are reserved for filming, shooting photos and any other building in between.
— Each team is assigned a TransWorld videographer to produce a 3-5 minute video. Each team will have full access to the editing process and artistic direction of the video.
— Each team chooses the photographer they want to work with.
— Each team will be provided some basic structures and different rails, and a site director will be on hand to assist and advise the team.
— Each team will be given an operational budget for the project. This is for any props, lights, paint, art materials, tools, or whatever else is included to make the video and photos unique.
— The event will be pulled by the Sesitec System 2.0.
— The final photo and video product will be judged on the level of riding, creativity, the use of obstacles, and overall image and video quality by various TransWorld staff across multiple titles.
— The winner gets the cover of the July issue of TransWorld WAKEBOARDING and will have a spot reserved in the 2012 Devise and Conquer.
