Book 2.3 Arrives In Fast Pace
October 1st, 2008. Orlando, FL – The Standerd is proud to announce the arrival of the October issue, Book 2.3. For this issue, the 2008 "Legend Award” winner Zane Schwenk was profiled, Brandon Thomas went upstream for the cover shot, and Brian Grubb stomped an unbelievable sequence for the Malibu Boats back cover. After a whirlwind quarter of traveling, planning, writing, and shooting, Book 2.3 is finally a reality!
The Standerd traveled from coast to coast to produce, shoot, and design the seventh edition in the growing library. In North Carolina, senior photographer Joey Meddock documented some of today’s favorite wake riders challenging the world’s best NASCAR drivers in NASCAR Slowpokes. “Spreading the fun of wakeboarding with a top NASCAR driver like Kyle Busch was a memory that I will never forget," commented Meddock.
While in California, The Standerd teamed up with photographer Rodrigo Donoso for a unique photo shoot titled In Sync. Technological difficulties turned in favor of the multiple-camera idea. "The synchronized shooting from two different locations allowed us to showcase our timing skills," said Donoso. "The creativity on our home turf was shown in the photographs."
Book 2.3 was formally released to a packed crowd at The Rusty Rudder in Charlotte, NC. The waters of Lake Norman played backdrop as some of the pros in wake crossed paths once again with the celebs of NASCAR.
"The Standerd, The Rusty Rudder, host retailer Icy Waves, and some NASCAR pros combined efforts to throw another great party." Art director James Krawczyk remembers, “We were at capacity by 10pm, the place was packed. It's great to see so many people stoked about the sport and these books each quarter."
