Nike 6.0 Creates "The Wake Wall" Date: 08-11-2008
A new article was recently posted on the Nike 6.0 website that explained the look in some of their recent ads that appear in Alliance Wakeboard and WakeBoarding Magazine. Conceptualized by photographer Josh Letchworth and 6.0 wake team manager Silas Thurman, the structure is called the wake wall and it blocks the surrounding scenery, leaving the viewer with a blank, black wall, a simple box, unique lighting and basically a sick shot that seems to accentuate the aesthetics of wakeskating, including the trademark blast of sparkling water droplets. And just as Silas Thurman describes it in the article, it really gives the appearance of a clean studio shot. The Wake Wall wipes out any visual keys of a known spot, or really any look that's familiar or even expected in a photo.
