Grip good, burn bad

Well I've been riding my skate with grip where as I used to ride with foam. I like the grip but the burns SUCK! I have one on the inside of my knee on my right leg and one on the outside of my knee on my right leg. Everytime I bend my knees for a long time then stretch em out or vice versa it hurts like a beach. Anyone else having any grip burnage happenin?? I'm just going to make sure that I disinfect my burns whenever I get them.

ridehatzic, once your grip breaks in you wont get them anymore. i rode a freshly gripped skate two days ago and got massive burns all around my ankles. i havent had grip burns in forever.

Yeah, you will get used to it.. I had my fair share when I started riding grip..

I got a scar on my arm the first time I skated. My grandpa thought it would be funny to see how fast he could go before I bailed, and needless to say I DID fall, right on top of the skate and ripped up my arm. It hurt like a beach, but its sweet, cause I have a scar to remind me of the first glorious time I even wakeskated… I know this topic was about burns, but I thought this was okay…

Dered, That's a pretty cool story. It's good that you can remember the first time you wakeskated, I really couldn't tell you my first time ever, although when i got hooked on it is a different story.

I got the worst grip burn on our last trip. What made it worse is that our entire team makes fun of my giant cankles. I have become known as bleeding cankles. Did I cry when they made fun of me? NO!!! Do you want to know why.....?

Because I start my day like every red-bloodedman; with a giant boner. I eat my steak raw, punch with a closed fist, and ride grip tape.

Leave the foam for the ladies......and wear your scares with pride

grip burn is a good thing. i got some really nice marks right now. Since i've been in a dry suit for so long i forgot what grip burn felt like Laughing

I rode my foam top for the first time this weekend.

I liked being able to slide my feet around a little bit more than I could with my grip top cassette… but the grip on my cassette is brand new so like you guys said above, I’m sure it would wear down with use.

I’ve got a few scars from the grip, but I’ve got them mostly on my fingers and knuckles. The water up at Lake Elsinore was so cold my hands got a bit numb and I busted em’ pretty good.

I made damn sure to keep the blood out of NotSoBueno’s boat

This weekend I was getting up and my mom cut the gas for an unknown reason right before I got on top of the water and I lunged forward and punched the fresh grip tape. It looks like I got in a fight and won Very Happy

Getting Bit my the tape is just part of riding, I always seem to get bit on my ankles. But the worst one was the first time I ever tried to go wake to wake some how the board got way in front of me and I landed on it face first. Not fun!
