| I was thinking of buying a PWC this summer just so i could go skate whenever i wanted. but was unsure how big of a engine is required to pull a person out of the water decently. |

Most jet skis will work. I'd get a Yamaha 4-stroke if I was you though, they last the longest and are easy and fun to ride behind. _________________ √ |

| Has anyone found any benefit to the little pylon on the seadoo wake? Or is it just a gimmick to sell more ski's? |

| I've got one of those on my Doo, they don't do all that much. The only thing that it kindof is nice for is for the spotter to hold if you have one and it keeps the rope farther away from the intake, but, as a rider, your not going to notice much. |

| Yea the pilons are very overated. They dont do much, and i find on my sea doo when ever its up the ski sways and rocks alot more then when ever its down or on the tow ring.... Sea doo could have done alot more research and made alot better wakeskate ski. the speed is very inconsistent and it sways alot... i prefer riding behind my yamahas... they have a triger and its soo easy to keep speed and there soo stable... but a jetski is def. the way to go.. Cheap, quick to get you back up out the water, and alot easier to progress behind a ski then a boat... |

Hmmmm overrated? I dont see Yamaha making anything with a wakeskater or wakeaboarder in mind. And I dont see them putting nearly as much money into the sport as Sea-Doo has in the past 3 years. If you knew how much money was given to be the title sponsor at the PWT for wakeskating, it might suprise alot of you. Or how much it coast everytime Sea-Doo gets one back from an event that they let use them and have to replace pumps and wearrings cause they have been trashed and rode in water way to shallow with rocks and sticks and debris. But they still lend them out, knowing this is going to happen. The pylon is not a Gimmick, they do help getting a rider out of the water a bit easier. Were the advantage is after that, I dont know, But its not just a Gimmick. All you guys on here say support R.O.C, Well also help support one of the only companys who have went out of there way to help grow the sport.
Just my Opinion

I agree with Jesse.. with the pylons the wake editon ski does rock more when you cut out and such then with the little tow rig on the back of other sea-doo's/yamaha's
not dissing Sea-doo, I love them _________________ when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Yea, well i think it is bad ass that is one off or the only sea doo companys that really tries to support and progress wakeskating. But i really feel they could have done alot better job when making a "WAKESKATE" jet ski. The board racks spray water up so the 2nd person on the back gets soaking wet, You cant go out and slash butter cause carving out too hard rocks and slows the ski down, the speed is alot harder to control on my wake ed. then it is on my parents yamahas. On my parents yamahas i can turn around and actually watch the person riding nad not have to worry about speed. On my wake ed. i have to watch speed and watch the rider through the mirrors cause its too hard to keep speed. And the lip of the wake for i/o shizzle is alot better behind the yammaha....
Again i think it isss sooo sick that sea doo is into supporting wakeskating... and i will always support um because of that reason... i am just saying that they could have created a better product when it comes to wakeskateing... i mean maybe if you are affiliated with sea doo... keep in my some of the things that riders are noting could be better and try and improve on it... |

| my dad used to own a sea doo and my mom still owns a yamaha. my dads sea doo seemed to be in the shop just about every other month and my moms yamaha hasnt been in years. the sea doo always seemed harder to control speed wise than the yamaha and didnt have as nice of a wake to it. both the sea doo and the yamaha were bought in 2000 and my moms yamaha is still running strong while my dads sea doo basically died and has since been replaced. we replaced it with another yamaha and i will never own a sea doo ever again. my friend owns the wake edition and i have ridden behind it many times, compared to any yamaha the sea doo is harder to control, the boardracks break and catch water, the pylon sways the jetski, and the wake is disgusting. i would highly recomend any yamaha jetski. |

u have a sea doo GTX 2002. no pylon but still awesome. not hard to control speed at all. i can look back without having to worry about the speed bc its easy to keep at teh same speed. also i guess u jsut get use to the engine sound too and keep it about that sound and u know your right. my seadoo gives off a good wake too. i guess its different than the wake edition. _________________ "Cause I have found, all that shimmers in this world is sure to fade....." |

i love the wake on my honda better than yamaha and way better than sea doo's. the yamaha is real good tho, its just a lil mushy for my likeings. if i were on a budget i would for sure go with a yamaha, but if u got 10g's ready to go, get a honda or even a used honda, the turbo model is the tits of the operation, so smooth.
as far as sea-doo,
Cody25911, i know u work for them and wat not, and i respect what u said but seriously all the sea-doo's ive riden behind or had friends own have all been problems. of course sea-doo is a baller company and love all that they do, but if they are that into our sport why dont the get some riders together and desgn a specific wakeskate ski, instead of putting board racks and a pylon on?
if the pylon makes it easier to get up, but then harder to control when some1 is cutting out than doesnt that make it obsolete(spl?) as far as a working product?
and the racks, ive haerd of them breaking, not fitting boards and some other stuff that to me should of been thought out.
i think if sea-doo is putting money into our sport they should get the stuff design a lil more than kids like us wouldnt have anything bad to say right?
fyi, i am not attacking you, i dont want to u to think that, i just am interested in wat else u have to say so please take this as a good discussion! |

I think you can't just look at one person's results with a PWC and generalize for all of them. We have a 1995 Sea Doo GTX that NEVER had a single problem until 2005. We just maintained it pretty well and 10 years for something that we payed like 3500$ for is not too shabby if you ask me. It's not like we babied it either or anything either.
With that being said, however, I think I'm going to try and save up some funds and get either a newer (early 2000s model) GTX or Yamaha sometime next year... just the best PWC that I'll be able to afford. |

I have a 4stroke yamaha FX ho and it just rips!! Lots of power, very very stable in the surf and waves for towin, and it is really easy to keep the speed right.
very durable, had it for almost 2 years now, always ridden in salt water and still haven't had a single problem with it. It can stay out of the water for a couple months and start right up when I put it in...
Go for yamaha for sure if you ride on salt water, no hesitation to have!
My only gripe is with the wake... It's a pain to clean it up if it's not perfectly butter _________________
