Anyone ride? I've always wanted to get into it and never had the chance to. Now that I'm at college a bike would be useful, and I figure I could kill two birds with one stone. I have no idea where to begin on even what type of bike to get. I'd like a good all-around bike, flatland, ramps, but for not too expensive (i'm not looking to go pro or anything, hah, just something that will work fairly well). I'd be down for either building a bike, or buying a complete. (I might go used if things get too expensive, i honestly have no clue what i need)
Thanks |

I used to ride everyday for like 3 years straight...I haven't really ridden in almost a year but I still managed to build 2 bikes this summer. I would recommend building one that way you will know how to fix it. The only bike that I ever bought from a store was the 2k3 Vegas Lavin...bike is soo damn durable but weighs a shizzle load. If you have any simple questions I might be able to help you out, nothing too complicated though haha
also www.danscomp.com is a great site for parts/complete bikes. not sure if it's still around though, but I used to buy all my parts and gear from them. _________________

Jonesie, I appreciate it, thanks. I'll check out the catalog for sure.
Just any info that's a step in the right direction will help, i'll mostly just be playing around with it riding between classes, occasinally at the skate park. I just don't know if there are certain frames/wheels/chains for different types of riding. I'm a complete n00b to this. Last time i rode any bike was probably 5 years go. |

| First off, that is not a BMX bike that is a freeride mountain bike, notice the shocks in the front and 24" wheels not 20" wheels. Get into it man I still ride all the time and they just opened a bikepark like two minutes from my house. |

I found a new Hoffman Rhythm and got a pretty good deal on it. I've had it for two days now. I'm having a lot of fun, not very good at it, but working on it. Any tips for complete beginners?
also, any good street bike videos that anyone knows of? |

props road fools......... and the Etnies video will blow your mind... I use to ride all the time still do every once and awhile. Its a good way to get away from everythig in life and just go ride. Its also a good way to smash your shins. If your a complete beginner WATCH OUT FOR YOUR SHINS...... How big are those trails in Tally? Is it only a set or is it a bunch of trails? They look pretty gnar with all the big ass stumps. _________________ Justin Boisclair

OK, all you guys out there, I'm having problems.
I got a tube replaced (i popped it the second day i had my bike), and ever since the chain gets loose and i have to fix it every half hour or so. (And by fix i mean sit around for 45 minutes while i try to do it by myself and it not working.) Is there any way to keep the back wheel from slipping and the chain getting loose. I would have been out riding for the past hour if it wsnt for this damn problem. |

do you have chain tensors?
if you do just adjust thoughs
if not then when you fix it are you pulling the tire back? or just tightening the bolts? without actually being there i can't really judge whats wrong...maybe take it to a local bike shop and watch the guy do his thing? that's what we used to do, just one person pay the $5 to get there bike fixed, everyone watch, and the next time it happened we all knew how to do it ourselves _________________

Yeah, i don't have tensors on it. I'm pulling the whole tire back (after much effort) and i'm cranking the bolts down pretty good.
It's pretty rediculous, i'll look into getting tensors or calling the guys at the shop. It's really frustrating.
Thanks Jonesie |
