| Has anybody else been wondering why Wakeskating is NOT in the X Games yet? I'm thinking sick-a$$ pool gap, downtown LA. Anybody else with me? |

| All you Cali Boys need to go out now and spread the word. On a side note, I'm still pissed that they gave the gold to Froggy last year. We all now that Parks KILLED IT. |

yeah, as it is wakeskating only gets like 3.5 seconds of airtime when some channel plays a PWT stop. Its ridiculous........I can see it now.......wakeskating gets into the X Games and theres Pat Parnell, as usual, misnaming the only trick that gets airtime which is someone like Reed doing a f/s bigspin and Parnells like, "Oh, theres Aaron Reed doing a big bad body varial on one of those wakeskate things. We'd show you more footage, but now we have to get back to the inline skating best trick........."
I wish more people knew about our sport and just how technical it really is. _________________ R.I.P. Jim Taylor

That's where i kinda like wakeskating though. It's not huge. It's like how some people (me being one of them) really like not well known or underground music cause its kinda like your own little thing that many people don't know about. Wakeskating is like our little underground heaven. The one thing that really pisses me off about it being a small sport is when people bash it without even trying it or anything. That pisses me off something fierce I'll tell ya hoowat.
As far as technical, i agree. Say you do a 3 shuv in front of some people, they'll be like whatever.....I WANNA SEE SOMETHING HUGE, DO A BACKFLIP OR SOMETHING. I think it's compared way to much to wakeboarding and no one respects it for what it is, its own sport. |

I don't think a sport this cool can stay underground forever. _________________ dbanana wrote:

they'd actually say something liek a frontside bodyvarial with a frontside 360 shoveit...
Oh, and inline is dead! They're not at the xgames anymore! It's crazy...downhill skateboarding got the boot, street louge--6 feet under...bungee jumping...well, that died a long time ago. They're clearly aiming for a specific demographic, and downhill skating and lougeing was, apparantly, too gay.
Anyway, wakeskate comps will need to improve when it comes to spectating before the x will mark the spot (with the spot being wakeskating). I mean, some riders completely skipped the tour comps and, from what I know, a few are skipping nationals as well (and that's pulled by a boat, and people love to see wakeskaters fall). For now, I'm content with things like the toejam and (from what I've heard), the hippodrome. Rider run events that look out for the good in wakeskating (no matter what the net-haters say)...the x games wont'' give a poop about wakeskating because none of our riders are in a "right guard extreme deodorant" commercial.
We're not good enough, we're not smart enough and, doggoneit, people hate us. Just kidding, but not everyone gets it. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

jboss, you are right. I forgot that it was an "exhibition event" which is odd becuase that's usually how these things make their way into the x games as full on events.
yeah, rockclimbing, downhill mountain biking...anyone remember barefoot jumping? that was there too.
The hippodrome sounded really interesting. I guess the guy that won it was super impressive...jeff engen. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
