I´m wondering how you guys go about when trying to nail new tricks. Do you work on one trick ´til you get it or many different ones parallell ? When you´ve nailed a trick do you keep on trying to make it consistent or do you move on ? How long time, depending on the trick ofcourse, does it take before you´re getting consitent in nailing your tricks ?

Please share your thoughts on these issues.

It´s interesting to hear what different people feel works best. Some of this knowledge can be very useful to help break your own habits. I´m a professional guitarist and I know as much about practicing the guitar as you´d ever need. This knowledge can ofcourse be applied to many other areas in life.

Ex: After throwing down a shuv. would you immediately after you´re beginning to get consistent, start to practice it switch ? Imho I feel that this would be the best way if you wanted to become a pro skater. I´m riding just for the fun of it and I haven´t quite made up my mind yet if I should put in all the hours to nail all tricks switch.

All the best

Tobias

I really just ride. I make sure I try every trick that I've ever done at least 5 or 6 times. This way I work on consistency and I still have a good "freeride" feel. I'm not into working at it a lot really. I DO need to learn stuff switch though.

Keep working on it until I get frusterated and than either quit and drink beers or go back to stock tricks and get my confidence back up.

I dont have the patience to sit there and not land something time after time. Evil or Very Mad

If I'm working on a new trick, I'll usually give it about 10-15 tries (maybe 20 if I'm really close) and then do tech lines on the lip because they're my favorite thing to do. They are just so fun and they get you used to landing stuff and getting your feet in the right position everytime.

HatzicScape112, for a three shuv, jump high and stall for a bit, that helped me get the full rotation.

he meant tech lip tricks, like all sorts of variations of shuvs to lip/bord slide to shuvs out from a slide. There are just sooooo many possible variations, it also makes that the thing I like the most ^^

I also do the same, try a few times a new trick or a trick I don't have dialed. I like to do in a row all the tricks I can do and consider consistent. Usualy starting with the easiest, but I also tend to mix harder ones first. I do that until I pull everything in a row, this helps for consistency, then I work on a new trick like 5-10 times in a row and mix in some lip stuff to get my head off the new trick...

But seriously I never think about all that when riding, I just happen to do it that way, not sure it's the best for me, just the natural one Laughing

Just ride....... I usually try a new trick or two at the end of my run. It's hard to get consistent on all tricks but I just go out and "freeride" and if it feels good I'll throw in something new. I think it's cool to do some tricks switch, especially liptricks, shuvs etc. It's all in your head........

To get my stuff consistant I normall wait to try it at the end of like a really long line or in front of a bunch of people cause then its like you HAVE to land it. but i don't have anything to back my s@#$ up so nvm. Very Happy

PIRATE, lol Very Happy

Frye, that's what I try to do sometimes too, pull a good line and try having a hard trick at the end like the cherry on a cake ^^
