|
|
I need some advise from riders who own or know about the durability of the bi-level. I really want to buy one, but I don't want to shell out 300 bucks just to have it delam or have one of the kicktails crack in half. Does anyone have any advise for me? Is the board worth all the hype?

Wow there's 500 topics on this.
I'm sure the Integ nazis (PIRATE ) will be here soon, so I'm gonna go ahead and say it. It's an awesome board but it's a lottery getting one that doesn't delam after a few rides. Mine lasted for 6 months riding pretty much every day, but a lot of other people's delamed after a day or two. It's your choice really. It is worth the hype though, I pop everything a foot higher than I used to.
I'll go ahead and tell you about the Integrity boards too. They're great boards, and they're impossible to delam or break.

Thanks for the insite, (I know that Pirate guy is all about his integrity's).
Do you think if I Johnson Water-Seal the hell out of it, it will help it any?
As for the integ, I'll take it in to account. My boy at UCF is always saying those boards are great, but I don't know if I can go to a composite again.

kc royals, polyurethane works best. If you seal it with a coat or two of that before you ride it, it shouldn't delam for a long while.
dMaus, mine has stuff like that on it too. I just washed it with like soap and water and it came off. But it comes back, and I just wash it again.

kc royals, dude my friend owns one well actually 2 cause the first one delamed in a week and his second one has lasted about a month but is now showing signs of delaming, he is going to be buying a integ soon.
in all honesty the bi is a really fun board to ride but its not my favorite. anyway if your looking for something that will last get the integ... or dont i dont want e-snow jumping down my back.
also if you want a wood board thats going to last wait about a month and buy a OMEN wakeskate.

I heard a rumor that cassette is going out of business. Is this true? It could be with all these defects on the bi-level. I hope not, there team is pretty sick, and they give good laughs with guys like Reed and Hampson.

kc royals, you don't really understand how annoying it actually is to have someone make a new topic about the bi level almost everyday.

kc royals, When you say you don't want to go back to composite, which ones are you referring to? I hated every composite wakeskate I rode, until the integrity. Most composite skates have sharp rails, they sit really high in the water, have no pop, and are too light.
The integrity is different. With rounded rails, it sits lower in the water and gives you much more control and stability. It rides better than any other wood skate I've ever ridden, and after a few rides, you'll never know the difference because it rides like a wood skate without the chance of delamming after 2 rides. The integrity skates have incredible pop and it's all in the design. Watch the video of David Maus and Vance Collins. The first rider is on the bi-level. Notice the pop and height of each trick. Then watch the second section where the rider is on the integrity. Notice the increase in snappy pop and height. It's all in the design.
I think cassette has been a driving force in the progression of wakeskating and I really don't want them to lose out on more money because of 99% of their skates delamming after a week. If you want a skate that is gonna last longer than any other on the market and has more pop than the bi-level, go for an integrity.

Nick Taylor,

when you say that, what exactly are rails on a wakeskate?
sorry for the ignorance.

urinal mint, THE rail are the outer edges of the skate. when there rounded the board sits deeper in the water then when they are sharp.

urinal mint, special thing about the integ is that you can sand those edges yourself too
comes stock with a basic neutral edge, and you can soften/sharpen it anywhere around the deck. Like sharp at the tips, soft at the waist, or whatever... very cool.
to add to topic: bi level is great, integ is great, but bi break and it's a lotto when u buy.
make your choice
and as it's been said too, try to demo both boards before buying if u can
special thing about the integ... you can soften/sharpen it anywhere around the deck
what does sanding the edges down do? like what difference does it make if you got soft or sharp edges
