I'm trying to learn wake to wakes and I'm having a hard time with pop. When I really extend, I seem come off of the board.
Thanks for any help

Cut out, and practice taking a nice slow progressive edge toward the wake. Keep your handle in at your waist while your edging in. Practice launching off the wake and just landing in the middle of the two wakes until you feel comfortable enough to take on the entire wake. I don't really know what you mean by "extend". Are you getting scared in the air and pushing the board away? Good luck! vids would help us tell you what you are doing wrong as well.

-=AlexXx=-, thanks for the tips. I can do the progressive edge and everything, (I used to wakeboard) but my problem is getting lift off of the wake. When I try to straighten (or extend) my legs, it seems like the board kind of flies away. That's what I mean by "extend."

RWmedia, You can.t wake to wake on a skate the same as you would on the wakeboard, when you "extend" what you are doing is pushing your body higher into the air while stopping the trajectory of the wakeskate.
Take What -=AlexXx=-, said and then apply this technique;
Edge into the wake with more weight on you back foot, (what I like to do is really exaggerate this the closer i get to the wake so that i can pop the nose up high, but for now baby steps)
Ok, so your are taking you progressive edge into the wake like normal but with a little bit more weight on the back foot, then instead of "extending" at the top of the wake, put about 75% of your weight on the back foot so that you pop tail heavy, as the board leaves the wake suck your legs up with the board, then use your front foot to level out the board while sucking up you back leg.
Like alex says, start small, doing one wake and getting the feeling for it then take it bigger and bigger, hope this helps.

RWmedia, I cant really related to wakeboarding because i could never fully wake to wake while strapped in. I dont ever extend my legs after the wake jump, i do the exact opposite. I suck them up to try to get the most air I can!
Here is a really old example of me hitting the wake, as soon as i hit i suck my legs straight up. This is 5 years old, can't believe it.. feels like just yesterday taking this 3 shuv w2w virginity!

Make a progressive edge on your heels. Keep the rope at your waist. Crouch down and use the wake to ramp the board up with your feet by pulling you knees up as you are going up the wake. Don't just focus on popping the board as hard as you can because you wont give the board enough lift to stay with your feet. Start with very small jumps off the wake to get the concept of sucking the board up with your feet ,then work on clearing the wake.

RWmedia, when you hit the wake its an ollie pop off the wake, not a leg extend pop like you're used to on a wakeboard where you're strapped to it so it works. wakeskating you gotta have more flow and control, so practice and get solid flatwater ollies, then try in-out, popping off the wake. once this feels bueno go for the w2w, you might land short in the middle to get a feel, but once you do land down the other wake its money. keep that handle in tight, knees bent, ollie pop off the top of the wake, let go with your back hand, push that handle down for control, land it, ride away clean.
ps shorten the rope length and/or speed up a bit to get the right feel of your wake

DaleFish, -=AlexXx=-, jazzbox, southpaw, Thanks for all the help. And yeah, wakeboarding kind of seems to mess learning up the pop a little bit. I will try to post a vid if I land it.

Here are some clips from the 1st ride on my tao.
I'm riding behind a 19 foot jet boat (with something like a 40-45 foot line which is insanely short compared to most boat riders) so I don't have much time to cut in. But anyways, does anyone have any more suggestions for getting a better cut even after I pass the wash of the wake? It seems like I just lose speed and flatten off at that point. And also, whenever I try to let off of the handle with my back hand (like almost everyone does) I always spin a little bit backside and end up crashing. Tips????? thanks

RWmedia, dude the second one was money! you got it. make sure the boat is driving in a straight line before you hit it. edge all the way through the top of the wake, this means as you edge it should get harder and harder and the line gets tighter. You want to be edging your hardest and the rope tightest at the top of the wake. when you let go with your back hand, take your handle hand and push down to keep the board in front of you.

southpaw, Thanks for the quick response! When you say push down, do you mean drop your handle to around the waist or below? Also, when is the best time to "pull" the handle in when you are cutting in? In the 2nd clip, I think I did it too early.
I kind of want to try a grab if I can get another set in, Ive attempted indy's but would a tail possibly be easier?
Thanks so much!

keep the handle near your waist to begin with, and once you pop just keep the line tension tight still by pushing the handle down.
I try to keep the handle kinda close and tight for most tricks. I do give the handle a little pull for certain things, so as you come up the face of the wake give it a little tug but just slightly.
just keep practicing you have it down good!
