waterskier answered my question

So I have been asking the same question for a long, long time, and I finally got my answer. The question is, why do wakeskaters (and wakeboarders) say "take a set". It never made any sense at all to me, and I wanted to know what it means. I know it's water ski terminology, and it always bothered me to hear people say it. It's my own weird little hang-up.

So I was talking to this waterskier I know, and it came up. To my great surprise, he actually knew the answer.

A "set" is up and back three times through a waterski slalom buoy course.

Next time someone asks me if I wanna take a set, I'll politely reply "no thanks, I don't waterski, but I'm down to go wakeskate..."

interesting.... I have heard that in the past and mostly from people that have been around watersports for a long time. Never put that together.

Now I will be able to tell the 3 event skiers apart from the rest of us.
