Hey

Im new to wakeskating and i was wondering what kind of helmet i should buy? Im a beginner and will probably ride mostly in cableparks.

Ive noticed most people doesnt have helmets with earprotection? I read that you can destroy the eardrum if you dont, how common is that?

I saw a comment that it's easy to make your own earprotection for helmets that doesnt already have it when you buy them, can anyone tell me how or maybe link some sort of guide?

Happy riding!

I wouldn't worry too much about the ear protection.

bern makes some good helmets that have a non absorbant foam, so it's not going to take on any water. When I sold snowboards, that was a good helmet brand for us, and those are also the helmets that nordic mountain (my 2.0 cable park) has for rentals.

Pro-Tec, Shred Ready, and Bern all make great wake helmets. It really comes down to style/color preference. I have a Pro-Tec wake helmet myself, and I removed the ear protection. I like being able to hear my environment when I am at the cable park. The odds of you blowing out a knee are higher than blowing out an eardrum. I have no scientific or statistical data to back that up. That has just been my own experience.
