I'm getting a suzuki dr350s here soon. I love older dirt bikes.
The thing I like about this bike is that it had the capability to do trails, and still be geared for the road.
So my question is, how hard/expensive is it to keep an extra set of wheels for the bike? Like have some enduro/dirt tires and then have a pair of purely street tires?
Input would be nice! |

I have a guy on my softball team who rides a KTM all summer and I know he does trails on the weekend. He told me that with the new compounds and tread patterns you can get a good dual terrain tire. He didn't tell me brands but I know spending some extra money on a good set of tires beats new tire and wheels any day...
I hope this helps _________________ Obscura Wakeskates! |

its not a bad bike, the tires arnt to expensive you just need to find a racer that is running the same rims as you then buy his old dirt tires(craigslist possibly) but just keep in mind no dirtbike is great for both
its will get you around a track and trails but the suspension wont handle a jump
but the drz models are great my grandfather has one(350) and rides it a ton &$yrs old and still rides dirtbikes
we also have 2 drz650s
pm me any questions and ill get you the info you need
good choice for a beginner trail/street
the350) is a nimble r version of the 650
easier to throw around and get away from , in case some old lady pulles out in front of you _________________ https://vimeo.com/moontowerco |

| POPTART, great! Glad to hear it! I wasn't really worried about trying to take it off any jumps. You can definitely look forward to some pms if I have any problems in the future. |

i ride an 09 ktm 450 exc. you are going to want to take that thing off jumps after about 6 months, trust me. dr's are a bit of a tank and more of a farm bike than a trail bike. it will go ok, might have a bit of trouble keeping up with your mates in the tight/technical stuff. a year of riding consistently and you'll want to upgrade, maybe that's something to think about?
anyway onto tyres, you can definitely buy a good dual terrain tyre, depends how much road you will be riding comparing to trails. i swap my compounds between summer and winter, softer compound in winter obviously because the trails are softer and the riding is easier on the tyres. swapping tyres is a pain in the ass, especially if you are riding trails often. if you are not familiar with bike mechanics you will struggle for the first few months to change tyres quickly and efficiently.
my advice is to buy a harder compound dirt tyre or just dont ride it on the road and get a real trail bike |

dylo, I used to have an xr250r never was really interested in jumps.. maybe eventually. As for now I'm looking for more of a road bike that I can still ride on the trails, and something old enough that I can work on it myself.
Hoping to pick the bike up next week! Hopefully he doesn't sell it!
I'll definitely keep you guys posted |
