i mounted one of these to my spool to get rid of the pin for a releasing spool...

it doesn't work. FAIL (to the tune of $200). Oh well, next idea...

hey dude if you still want a releasing spool Ridiculous Winches sell a disengaging powdercoated steel spool for like $189. I've got one on the way Very Happy

nickypoo421 on wakeboarding-winch.com states a hub like this (or similar to a bicycle hub) will not work, I put some thought into and I think he's right but I would like to get the parts in my hands to make sure of it

no, it truly won't work. if you want to buy one, i'll sell you mine for cheap. the problem is you can freewheel even when the motor is spinning the other direction...

You need to have some type of lock that is removable to have a releasing spool.


I think of it like this.

Your coasting downhill on your bike, this is you pulling out the line. Now start pedaling backwards, that is the winch running. Nothing happens.
