I've been having a discussion with a couple of friends about the terminoligy of lipslide/boardslide when you hit a rail/box with a ride on. The skateboarders in the discussion claim that if you cut out on your heels doing a (what wakeskaters call) a bs lipslide that it is definitely not a bs lip and should be called fs board or heelside fs board or something. Im explaining that it depends on what side of the pull the rail is and also if you cut straight to the rail or cut around it. I can see how they think its weird that a bs lip with ride on is actually called bs lip since it is nothing like a bs lip on skateboard, but somehow it has to be called so.
I know this is not gonna solve the world peace but what is everyone elses opinon? |

this is a easy way Martin
When hitting a rail with it behind you it will be a backside named trick
When hitting a rail on your toes it will be a frontside named trick
When your back foot goes over the rail its a lipslide
When your front foot goes over the rail its a boardslide
So with a Backside Lipslide you will come at the rail on your heels hence the backside , and your back foot will go over the rail _________________ www.jimizwakenskate.com

Right, but we were talking about when cut out and hit the rail pretty much straight towards it and with a ride on. Like when you hit the table top at odub, a bs lip there looks nothing lika a bs lip on skateboard more like a fs board. When you ollie up from the side its pretty obvious if its lip or board.
Like this guys second trick. It is neither his tail nor nose that goes over the rail.

I guess its the same on skateboard when you are doing a bs lip on a box olling up stright at it or even pretty much frontside at it. Like in this video http://theberrics.com/trickipedia.php?tid=025 |

if your back-foot rotates over the rail than it is lipslide _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

it doesn't matter where the pull is from at all. if you hit a rail straight on skateboarding it is just as hazy. getting on to rails from the side is the only way to do a correct lip slide or board slide. technically what you are talking about isn't either of the two, but no one likes a terminology stickler. all you need to know is what James said about frontside and backside and the difference between a lip and board slide. if you understand that you'll know what to strive for to make your back lips text book. so call it what you want just know what's right. |
