I know there was a previous thread of speakers for jet skis and not many people have done it but i ordered a pair of the shark motorcycle speakers because they are 100% waterproof and saw nothing but good reviews about them. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250570319026&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

I was very hesitant to drill holes into the side of my ski because if you took them off you would have 2 big holes and would look kinda stupid. So i found a way to hide them underneath the front compartment so you dont even see the speakers but they sound just as clear as if they were mounted on the side.

it comes with a 100 watt amp and i mounted it on the inside of the front storage bin

I attached the 2 speakers to the piece that attaches to the underside of what i call the hood or front piece that lifts up.

It also comes with a small little volume and power controller that i just put at the bottom of the steering column so when the rider falls you can turn it down easily.

it comes with the cord you need for your ipod, or fits into any headphone jack that i just ran into the glove box so its out of the way and keeps it dry and easy to change the song or take out when your done

I went through like 3 pairs of those, they're good for $100 but they won't last too long. Mine made it like a season before something went wrong. They're cool to have though

I realize I'm gonna be in the complete minority on this and am asking to get flamed but I wish I could understand this need for loud music on the water. I totally don't get the music on the lake thing. I hate when there's like 7 boats around me all blasting there sound towers...often times F-this and F-that type music.

The whole look at me I'm cool cause I have music on my boat thing is so overrated...

Why can't we just wakeskate without music?

The install looks nice and fine though. I like how you mounted the speakers underneath very clever idea.

there are a few reasons music is good on the water. everything is better with music. you can always turn it off. some people simply have a passion for stereos i.e. audiophiles. i personally hate being on a boat w/o music, in a car w/o it, or on a ski w/o an ipod and some headphones.

Sorry to bump an old post, but found this one while searching for jet ski speakers.

To the thread starter, it's been a couple years since you've installed these. Are they still working OK?

I've seen these on Ebay for about $50, in the description it says that they speakers and the remote are waterproof but doesn't say anything about the amp. Have you had any problems with the amp getting wet and shorting out?

Thanks!
Chris

chrisfromwa, after about a year they finally shorted out but it was mostly my fault they did. I left the speakers and amp on the ski during the off season with a cover and a decent amount of moisture built up. They are well worth the $50 though and would last a couple seasons if you took the amp out during the off season so moisture wouldn't get to it.

kicker also makes speakers for jetski's though. not sure how expensive but there was recently a video on alliancewake.com with how to install them.

Thanks for getting back to me.
How did the sound out on the water inside the trunk like that. I also don't want to drill any holes in my ski and I liked how you did that.

I'm going to check out the kicker ones too.

So I finally went out and bought some of these.
The ones I bought are made by Pyle, the amp is a little smaller than the ones the OP posted.

The ones I got don't have a on/off switch, so once the amp is hooked up to the battery it's on. So I'm hoping there is a way to tap into the skis wiring that will allow it to only be powered when the ski is powered up.

I have a Honda R12x does anyone know where a +12v wire is, that is only on when the ski is on? I think this will be better anyways, since I don't want to forget to turn the amp off, and then have a dead battery the next time I go to ride it.

I don't have a wiring diagram but hoping someone who if familar with these skis will know where a wire is I could tap into.

Thanks!
Chris
