Anybody ever skate behind an old mastercraft...like a late '70s model? _________________ "Whenever you find a man who says he does not believe in a real right and wrong, you will find this same man contradicting that a moment later."-CS Lewis |

easy killa... i love my 04 X10. never had a serious issue with and it always runs great. i can think of quite a few boats that are a "giant P.O.S" but no mastercrafts come to mind. did you have a bad experience or something? |

Thats the one. A '76 stars & stripes. I was gonna check one out this weekend, but didn't know if it was worth my time...i didn't know if the wake was worth going to look at it. _________________ "Whenever you find a man who says he does not believe in a real right and wrong, you will find this same man contradicting that a moment later."-CS Lewis |

I have a 1999 Mastercraft Sportstar that my family got in 1999, and we have NEVER had to take it in to the shop. I ride behind it at least once a week, and around 4 times a week in the summer. Runs like a CHAMP! |

ya i do apologize. i realize i just sounded like alexx. mc has great wakes, i miss my old board racks, and some other little things, but i just got 0 help from the dealers, my buddy who is a top dog w/ them couldn't help, and i got screwed out of about 2000$ and treated like a simpleton.i had a brand new 05 x-2 that had issues from day 1 and from 3 diff. dealers never had any of them do everything on the work order, and i got things broken while in for fixes(sometimes months long) and had to take them back again. and my buddy had a 98 205 direct drive that was always broken, and another buddy had a 2000 x-star that needed 2 new trannies by 2002. then i had friends with a 96 205 d.d. that never had 1 single problem. and my friends old stars and stripes still rips it up too. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. mojo, why would you sound like me, i would never say something as ignorant as that. MC is the shizzle. Only MC i have rode behind that i did not like was the new x15... really awful lay out and really hard to proportion the wake. |

I used to work for a guy who knew boats really well and he said the same thing about MC, avoid the ones from late 90's. I think they had some drop in quality at that time, not saying they all suck just that there is a consensus that they used to be better made. |

The MC's ive had experience with (x2, x1, x30, and xstar; newer models too), they all drove like a bus and im not too crazy about any of the wakes.
seeing as that doesnt apply to the original post...the stars and stripes is one of MC's best boats they've ever produced. If it's in good condition for a good price, i'd definitely say get it over that fishing boat you posted. _________________ When it rains, it pours. |

master craft has always been a high end company and nothing about that is gonna change their products have not gotten worse in anyway. the stars and stripes is a great boat my parents had one when i was growing up and now i ride behind my x-star never had a better boat _________________ "Too bad that all the people who really know how to run the country are busy driving taxi cabs and cutting hair."

Edit: I meant to say im not too crazy about any of the wakes except the x-star's. i cut myself short...
but im still not a huge fan of the boat itself. I'm a Malibu man all the way _________________ When it rains, it pours. |

mc was manufacturing some crazy amount of boats the last few years, which is what led to them almost going bankrupt. and even if the boat was quality, a huge part of it is service. nautiques rule and always will. and a free x-star would be great, but when you have to purchase, go nautique, or something with a PCM engine. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be.
