Was just wondering if anyone out there had some very successful tips on getting your leg strength back for riding after tearing your ligaments. I have been looking online and found a bunch of stuff but I want to hear ideas from some wakeskaters.
It has been 6 weeks after my surgery and I am riding bikes, running on treadmills, and light weight lifting to start.
Looking for some fun new exercises to practice.
ANYTHING WILL HELP!
Thanks guys. |

| what PT places had me do was, get a ball(half of a workout kind) and balance on it with one leg. and bounce some sort of ball against the wall, it works on regaining your coordination in that leg and is core strength. it helped me alot, not sure if your doing it or not. |

Yeah, I waited a few months before having surgery so when I did have surgery, my leg wasnt too low on strength. The doctor did not tell me I need professional Physical Therapy so I am doing it on my own.
So like play soccer against a wall? |

You're doing the right thing. I went trough PT years ago, it would be too expensive now.
Here's how it went when I did it:
Start off with a heating pad and some stretching, get an ankle weight and do some leg exercises. Bike or eliptical machine, a little longer each time. Running was not reccomended since its high impact. More stretching, lots of ice and some electodes on the knee for some shock therapy. Rest for a day, work it out the next. |

take something like this
and balance on it with one foot, and toss a ball against a wall and catch it with one hand, it really works on the core areas and helps build stabilization in the knee... |

crispy's thing looks really good. I had an acl issue and they gave me some PT exercises but I don't do any of those anymore. Nowadays I just bike to increase my leg strength. I had some complications and my recovery was such that I kind of came to a stand still in progress, but I know that my leg strength was nowhere near where it needed to be for them to say it was 100%, so I had to go off and do that stuff on my own. Out of anything I've done, biking has given me the most confidence in my leg muscles. But the other stuff is of course really good to do because it helps you focus on where your knee needs to be (ie over your foot). _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
