the biggest meteor shower of our lifetime starts tonight, i am pretty sure that it lasts for four days.

Quote:
November 17, 18 - Leonids Meteor Shower. The Leonids is one of the better meteor showers to observe, producing an average of 40 meteors per hour at their peak. The shower itself has a cyclic peak year every 33 years where hundreds of meteors can be seen each hour. The last of these occurred in 2001. The shower peaks this year on November 17 & 18, but you can usually see some meteors from November 13 - 20. The moon will be totally out of the way this year, providing an exceptional viewing experience for the Leonids. Look for the shower radiating from the constellation Leo after midnight.

just giving everyone the heads up, if yall want to see something amazing.

"The best seats are in Asia, but North American observers should be treated to an above average performance of the Leonid meteor shower, weather permitting. The trick for all observers is to head outside in the wee hours of the morning – between 1 a.m. and dawn – regardless where you live."

I went outside to check it out at 1. I was out for probably 20 minutes and say 1 pretty good one and 2 smaller ones. I'm gonna head back out around 2 and try to get some pictures.

scott a, is it going on again tonight or something?

"Earth will pass through one of the denser debris streams at around 4 a.m. EST (1 a.m. PST) Tuesday. If you have only an hour or less to watch"

that was this morning...

The meteors will be viewable tonight according to what I read. Last night and tonight are supposed to be the two best nights.

Also, where did you read that the Leonids come through once every 33 years?
