hello, im new here and new to wake skating,I wanted to ask you guys a few questions.
I ride at rixen with there boards that are like a wakeboard without boots. i can make it all the way around the cable course. is it time for me to get my own board?
if it is, im going to get foam first, do you use shoes with foam?
and also, what about fins?
it would be very helpful if you could give me some answers, thanks. |

welcome to the forum. I would go and buy a board. But first try to ride a board with grip. wood and composite boards ride really diffrent. I perfer wood boards over some composite boards. You can use shoes with foam boads but grip tape is were its at. The only problem with grip tape is you can get grip burn on your legs.
fins are up to you, i ride with both fins. some people ride with one fin and some ride with none at all. Just try messing around with fins set ups and see what you like. just have fun wakeskating, and try to demo some other boards if you can.
I have ridden composite boards until this season, i picked up a sattelyte wood concave and fell in love. tried riding my vynil this summer and hated it.
thats my two cents |

RABLE RABLE RABLE!!! no but seriously, grip tape is where its at, fo sho. and that fin thang, it is all about personal choice. i ride no fins on an integ, but my next board i'll probably slap some fins on. _________________ Peace through firepower!! |

the length thing is ALL about personal preference, i would go with the 40, BUT thats just me. and for the shoes, just make sure they float. _________________ Peace through firepower!! |

check out new, they can make you whatever you want really. and for a pretty reasonable price. or if you think price isnt a deciding factor maybe you would want to try a composite board like an integrity or arson.
newwakeskates.com
integrity-wake.com
arson-wake.com
and length and grip/foam is all personal preferance. my ideal length is 39-40 but yeah i would wear shoes, i tried shoeless my first time and got destroyed when i tried to do stuff. |

PoopSkater, Flat decks are fun.
I would recommend griptape. Foam is fine i guess but griptape offers superior board feel and griptape burns are really nothing to worry about. As far as selecting products goes, if you skateboard at all or do any other board sport, try to relate to the preferences you hold, and choose based on that. For shoes, pretty much anything will work. Try to look for a shoe with a flat sole (i.e. skate shoes).
Whatever you get, you'll be able to base future decisions on what you do and don't like about it. _________________ - Evan Molina |

Foam top sucks... just go with some griptape. Grip burns are not that bad... _________________ NORML.org

Just try out as many different boards as possible. One man's trash is another man's treasure. |

wakesskaterr536, my first board was a huge hyperlite flat deck with foam top. i learned almost everyvariation of a shuv (ex ts hs re entry inide out etc) on it
and same with front 1s whatever board you get you well most likely like because its your first board and you probly havnt ridden many if any other boards oh and use shoes for sure. for fins i dont use them i like to be able to do surface stuff and other fun stuff on glassy days... plus i think they feel weird |

| thats what size i think mine was. if you have never ridden without fins before and have with fins it will probly feel weird at first. probly a little looser or slippier?? but once you get used to it wich shouldnt take long i think you will like it without fins better. |
