get old cars that get crappy gas mileage and pollute our air off the road.
help people with poor/low credit start to rebuild credit.
help car/truck manufactures in the us sell cars/trucks again and get back on solid ground.

What's retarded is that it applies to foreign cars. Yes, it sells them and gives the dealership some money but the government bailed out American made car manufacturers, people are trading in their Chevy and buying a Civic. I don't see how it helps that much Confused

EJazzle, wrong bro. these people wouldn't be buying new cars if it was not for this program. they would just keep driving the clunker because the trade in value on the car their driving now would be nothing. you see how the program works.

and even if they are just selling the cars sooner then thats just that much sooner until the next guy buys a car and the next dealer sells a car and the next manufacture makes another car. GET IT!!!! the program is working and you haters are still hating!!!

senorbueno, But Honda wasn't bailed out. I'm not saying that it's the most purchased but the cash for clunkers shouldn't be available to cars that were made by a manufacturer that wasn't bailed out by the American Government.

cash for clunkers is an ok idea in theory. however where does the $ come from? the federal reserve. and that is a privately run entity who gets tax payer money and gives nothing in return. they are responsible for inflation or deflation, depressions and recessions. cash for clunkers is a good idea, but they set the bar too high at 18mpg and it should only apply to certain cars(no trucks) that get amazing gas mileage. as for health care, the only people that will be helped by his plan are those people w/o insurance. if you get it at work or buy it yourself you are likely to see the quality of care go down along with an increase in your income tax. some families will pay more than 50% of their income in taxes. does that sound fair? maybe it would be if all tax payers in all classes paid that much but the "rich" already employ people and allow them insurance through the company, along with buying things and investing to stimulate the economy. the joker's money is in a trust and a tax hike won't touch his $. how about we block the border so illegal mexicans can't come use our health facilities and that alone will bring premiums down for everyone. despite what you may all think i am quite intelligent and i keep up with current and historical events. i hate george bush by the way. party politics is just plain dumb. independent people want what's best for the country, not what's best for the agenda. obama is an egotistical dude. if he got rid of affirmative action i would give him some props.
