No, but I've rocked sambas to ride and those were awesome, except for the water retention. These look pretty sick and will probably give you decent drainage. _________________ "It's like there's not enough pants where there need to be more pants." |

At this point, I'd rather buy a product from someone that actually supports wakeskating. It's been such a long road to actually getting some cool wakeskate specific shoes. I think it's really important to support that and show those companies that we appreciate that THEY appreciate us, and they're trying to make something for wakeskaters.
But I can also appreciate individuality, so whatever! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Maybe it's just me but it throws me way off to see companies such as Fox and Puma making wakeskate shoes. It would be cool if es or Lakai or a company that makes skate shoes threw down. I like to keep my track shoes and skate shoes separate. _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.

Don't get me wrong, I'd ride in some old kicks from a thrift store. It's cool they are supporting it or whatever it's just not who I expected. _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.

brassmonkey, I know what you mean. A lot of "wakeskate specific" shoes that have come out (but definitely not all) seem to look and perform a lot like running shoes. DVS and Nike 6.0 seem to have the right idea when it comes to shape and comfort. But what sucks is that i think companies are looking too into "drainage" and light weight. I feel much more comfortable in shoes with a bit of heavy padding that add a little weight, than i do in some snug-fitting shoes that make me feel like i'm still barefooted. It's all a matter of preference though. I know a lot of people like really really light shoes in the water. Which i understand. But for me, i don't think any change from a regular skateboard shoe needs to happen in order to make it perfect for the water. _________________ - Evan Molina |

brassmonkey it's hard for me to imagine companies like Lakai, es or other skate only brands branching out to wakeskating since they are strictly skate companies. I am suprised though that other companies that sponsor other board sports haven't tried their hand at wakeskate shoes. |

I don't think those pumas are wakeskate shoes at all. They just have features that some wakeskaters find desirable in a shoe.
I guess it doesn't surprise me that fox is making a wakeskate shoe. they've diversified their line quite a bit, and they've supported the wake industry for years. (oh yeah, even I had some of those crazy fox MX wake shorts in the early 90s, all shaun murray style. celebrity worshipping at its finest! )
I don't ever see lakai making wakeskate shoes. They did make a mesh version of the cordoba, but I think that's still more of like a sockless street shoe that could be picked up by wakeskaters (like the dresdens and such). Lakai is pure skate and they like to have some lighthearted fun at the dvs wake team's expense. But whatever, lakai is what it is and that is also why I love that company. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

It's always nice to support the smaller companies, but people like me have a hard time spending $70+on shoes that are going to tear/wear down. I can find shoes that will work decently for $35, making my $70 go twice as long.

empire88, word, to each his own. For me, ebay has always been good (that is a huge reason why I have so many pairs of shoes in general), or closeouts work as well. The one good thing is right now, those DVS munition CTs with the mesh are in the 40s (price wise). I was blown away by that becuase every other mesh shoe was more expensive. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

wakeskate shoe is a volvo yacht race shoe, that i found at a boat show, I saw these and had to try em out and see what there like.
I still havent tryed them on the water yet thou but thought id stick um up here see what every one thinks.
In terms to supporting current wakeskate companys, i already have a few pairs of Kustoms wake tonic- nike 6.0 + Byerly Wake skate shoe not to mention dvs colection, so its not like i wouldnt say i dont spend my fair share. _________________ strap free, care free, free

electricsnow, maybe i'm wrong, but i think at the moment are not so many real wakeskate shoes on sale:
Ambush
Reef
UGP
Jet Pilot
this companies supports wakeskating since years!
Kustom
Nike
support since one year
Fox
since this year
all other shoes are normal skate shoes with mesh stuff, nothing more (for me like the pumas), if i remember right DVS has quit support for wakeskating because of the financial situation, _________________ hang loose or rock'n'roll
