Democratic Senator Barack Obama has been elected the first black president of the United States.
Several states reported very high turnout. It was predicted 130 million Americans, or more, would vote - more than for any election since 1960.
Obama said: "If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible..."

It's crazy how much our election influences the rest of the world...

I also thought it was interesting to see the reactions of others. Many global leaders have sent personal congratulatory letters to Obama already and he said he personally responded to each already... except to the Iranian President. He's treading lightly with them.
I can't tell you the last time I cared who got elected in another country...let alone had a party or a tshirt with their picture on it???! goes to show we do have a huge influence globally, and it's time we recognize that in a bigger way. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |
